Hmm sounds knackered to me.

You could stick it in the airing cupboard to dry it out.

SorenLorensen · 13/03/2006 19:20

How?

Cadbury · 13/03/2006 19:21

it might be bu&&ered but if you lay it on several sheets of kitchen paper overnight with the vents, or speaker holes facing downwards, it might drain completely and be ok.

Tell me the loo had been recently flushed . . . .

mistressmiggins · 13/03/2006 19:21

I managed to drop my mobile in the paddling pool last summer

I took it to bits & fried it out and was ok

also dropped the home phone in the washing up bowl months later - that didnt survive

glad someone else does !!

not sure Id want to use it once been in the toilet tho Grin

mistressmiggins · 13/03/2006 19:21

I washed dh's bleep in the washing machne once. That killed it.

cod · 13/03/2006 19:25

Nightynight · 13/03/2006 19:26

this is apparently the commonest fate for mobile phones

Nightynight · 13/03/2006 19:27

all our hard work ends up down the bog in other words, just like caterersSmile

cod · 13/03/2006 19:27

SorenLorensen · 13/03/2006 19:32

Nope, though I've been tempted to do it again since.

harpsichordcarrier · 13/03/2006 19:35

oh god I used to always do this
always calling dh from the bogside when I was out on the town and psd.
airing cupboard or on top of radiator wrapped in towel
(nightynight will tell me that is v bad practice)

Nightynight · 13/03/2006 19:41

no
sounds reasonable enough to me.
Phones do go through loads of tests (getting dropped etc) to try and ensure toughness. Evidently, swimming with poos should be part of the test suite.

If the battery is over-charged, it explodes. The phone therefore contains sophisticated softare to ensure that this never happens. Like most people, I used to charge my phone on the bedside table while I slept, about 1 foot from my head, until I met one of the engineers who programmed these routines. He always charges his phone in the cellar apparently, having seen a battery explode.

I am not quite that paranoid, because the charging routine is VERY well tested.

harpsichordcarrier · 13/03/2006 19:43

ohmigod batteries exploding! never thought of that...
my phone is NEVER more than six feet away from me at all times
we will go down together....

Nightynight · 14/03/2006 13:12

seriously, that is why you should always buy replacement mobile phone batteries from a reliable source, so you know it's manufactured by Nokia or whoever. Fake batteries have been known to explode in people's pockets....

Kelly1978 · 14/03/2006 13:15

I did that with an old nokia, exactly the same way. I think it buggered the speaker as it started working, went quiet and then refused to work. If you want to salvage the phone you could buy a hands free and use it that way.

cod · 14/03/2006 13:15

you might be able to pay for an upgrade and start a new contract. You would have to call your service provider.

cod · 14/03/2006 13:20

I have a house brick you can have if you need it.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 14/03/2006 13:21

Will have to check the battery first.
