Happy tidings before Xmas

In the spirit of Christmas I thought I'd start a thread where we can all say what has made us happy this year.

DH and I have had a particularly difficult year. His mum died after a long difficult illness and we have had our fair share of relationship ups & downs.

Having said that he has really been wonderful lately and this has made feel really happy.

He decided that instead of giving me all my Xmas pressies on Xmas day he would go for the "twelve days of Xmas". I have been getting one really thoughtful gift per day since Saturday - including lovely underwear, satin pyjamas, a gorgeous handbag and a few other things I couldn't mention on MN

So in a nutshell:

My DH has made me happy and of course we have our beautiful son. I have a good job and DH has just had a promotion despite having had nearly 8 weeks off this year to care for his mom.

So what's it been for you?

What a lovely thread dejags and what a sweet dh!

I am so in love with my dh and ds

I feel I have finally achieved the right balance between home and work

We had a wonderful family holiday in Spain

Dh got a new job and no longer works 5 nights a week

GladTidings · 18/12/2003 16:08

Aw... lovely.

This year I have:

Recovered (almost) from PND
Got a new job
Got pregnant!
Oh and lost 2 stone and now fit a 10..... er.... okay not really, but hey.... who'll know!

emmatmg · 18/12/2003 16:16

Wow Dejags, your Dh is very romantic isn't he, you lucky girl!!

What's made me happy this year?

The pregnancy and birth of DS3 nearly 3 months ago. I'd been broody for months and months and DH changed his mind Xmas last year so I savoured every minute of the PG and am now hopelessly and utterly besotted with my little bundle.......I just wish he wouldn't grow so fast.
I also love the fact that DS1+2 are equally as besotted with their new little brother.
I simply can't put into words how happy my DH has made me. He's a fantasic dad and husband. I wish the day away when he's at work just so he's home with us again.
I couldn't ask for anything better...he's my world

I broke my leg and was out of action for several months....but....I learned that my family love me for myself and not what I can do for them. My leg will be back to normal next year but my new security will stay forever. I now have permission from myself to fail in my duties and waste time sometimes.

We had a long and stressful court case which cost all our savings....but....we have successfully protected our daughers from their pervert father and my dh had that wonderful opportunity to show them how far he was prepared to go for their welfare.

My dd took an overdose after months of stress and illness....but....she is now undergoing counselling and gradually getting better, even though she can't see it herself. She is telling us things that are painful to hear....but....we are all learning how we can be what each other needs.

My PIL are disgusted with me because they believe me guilty of something I did not do....but....my dh backed my up and once more showed he would love me to the ends of the earth.

We have had a rotten year in lots of ways....but....we are still here, together, united against anyone who would threaten our children or drive a wedge between us. We are looking forward to a wonderful Christmas and New Year surrounded by people we love to be with, grateful for our good health and most of all the love which keeps us all together. We have so much.

WE finally moved into our new apartment after a long long wait of over a year.

DD has come on so much this year - she's learnt to walk and talk, and is a absolute delight.

Both me and DH feel that we have had a great year this year. Hope 2004 is as good too.

Merry Christmas everyone!

handlemecarefully · 19/12/2003 08:40

After my dd was born last year we went through 'baby shock' and it took its toll on the relationship between me and dd. This year I have started to really enjoy dd, and me and dh are back on the right tracks. Not loves young dream, but it all feels pretty solid and positive now.

This doesn't however stop me from wanting to elope with dejags' lovely thoughtful husband

MistletoeandWine · 19/12/2003 09:26

Like so many of you, we have had a reasonably difficult year, but we have survived it.
I'm happy that I have a dd who I adore and who can make me laugh with her silly antics regardless of what mood I am in.

I'm happy that I got to take my dd to see my mum in America,(But sad I won't see her for a while now

I'm happy that dp will finally get his hip replaved in January - so he can put his own shoes and socks on

I'm happy that by complete accident I stumbled accross this website - and made lots of "virtual" friends - many bits of advice taken on board even if not for me.

Merry Christmas to you and your families!! Mistletoe and Wine - (DSW) xxxx

MistletoeandWine · 19/12/2003 09:29

I mean hip "Replaced"
