when you use one of course

.. just wondering because a couple of weeks after DS was born, sister told me to put it lenghtways under his bum .. cos you don't really need it under his head .. and I've always done it that way

but I don't think I've seen anyone else do it that way and I've always wondered why not

because for a wee baby its comfier on the mat??!!

I think the idea of having the end with the raised edge by your baby's bum, not at the head end, is so that if she/he wees, the wees is contained on the mat, not soaking into your trouser leg. Does that make sense?

Yup, boy wee generally (all right not always) goes towards their feet so you need that 'lip' to stop it dripping. I have a cushion under the other end too because DS had reflux so with a tilted mat so I defintiely needed a drip catcher.

I have one with raised edges ..never for a second did I think to put the raised edge at the baby's bum Smile .. always thought it was for head end

have always changed ickle babies on my bed or the couch so don't think a bit of cold plastic under their head would be so much more comfy

Me, either Twiglett - it's taken me 7 years to figure that out!
MInd you, I'm a bit thick on the products front. when i was first pregnant, dh bought me one of those V-shaped pillows to make sleeping easier. For weeks, I put it over my bump (in an upside-down V, making the duvet look like a tent). until i told someone in my antenatal class how useless i thought they were - and she fell about laughing!
