Just had a call from my old employer, made redundant by them in September. Would I like to come back a work for a few weeks to cover someone sick leave, working for an agency. Not my old job but in another department. Get carers allowance now and not sure if I should take up the offer or not, is it worth it? larsxx

Please make an appointment at your local Job Centre or CAB to see how working contract can affect your carer's allowance. You probably went thru a lot to qualify for it, and it would not be prudent to do anything to jeopardise it.

Is it now around eighty pound a week I can earn.

I'd get that in writing, lars! But then, I am now paranoid b/c of a tax credit carfuffle that happened to us. Can never be too safe.

Oh yes and tax credit, is it worth it.
Also i feel a little bit like well you did make me redundant and not otherss iyswim. larsxx

tax credit is worth it. if you are on carer's allowance, i believe you may still qualify for child tax credit with a disability element for your child.

again, you have to apply.

Yes I get this, but wonder by working that bit extra and will get taxed it may not be worth my while just for a few weeks. larsxx

Won't hae a big affect on your child tax credit if your only working for a few weeks but depending on your circumstances you may get working tax for those few weeks as well so worth letting them know can't say home your carers allowance might be affected though.

I've told old employer no thanks! Felt great really, even the director's secretary said it wasn't worth it. Mind you might have to get a little job later to help pay bills, etc don't know what though. My sis thought it was a bit of cheek to ask me, after all they have made me redundant. larsxx
