Help - Any computer wizards out there?

My computer crashed - I won't bore you with the details let's just say I'm furious and frazzled!!

I have some restore disks but don't know how to use them.

I have tried rebooting with the first disk in the machine but nowt happens

Boot off windows CD and there's an option to repair. It does take a while though.

its not the windows cd - they're mine own system restore disks made after the purchase - they're cute these days - you don't get the disk!
