What to do for DH's birthday

It is Dh's birthday in just under 5 weeks and I want to do something special. We have been going through a rough patch on and off for a while and want to do something to show him I do still love him. I have a coouple of ideas but am not sure which would be better.

Idea 1: A lovely a la carte meal at a hotel we go to for special occasions followed by a night in one of their rooms complete with 4 poster bed and full english brekkie the next day. Maybe if i have the money i may arrange for him to play golf later that day with his dad.

Idea 2: Go for a basic meal and night in a hotel, full english brekkie followed by a round of golf together on a nearby course, then home. I have never played golf before but Dh keeps saying he wants me to give it a go.

Idea 3: Take him out for a nice meal the night before then pay for him to go out with his dad and bil for a round of golf at a very expensive course he wants to try

My dh loves his golf but at the same time I think he has been feeling a bit neglected iykwim Blush as im run off my feet most days with DS2 who never seems to slow down. This has been causing a few probs (as well as other things) and i think maybe a romantic night away would show him I still love him. But i am not sure if its his idea of a special birthday surprise.

Please help me choose, need to start planning asap. Also any other ideas welcome.

I like number 2, it's just about the two of you.

The only thing with no.2 is im worried that if i am crap at golf it would ruin it for him. He is quite good and takes it fairly seriously so i dont want him regretting me being there instead of his dad who he can have a proper game with. Then again I suppose it could be a laugh watching me scramble through the bushes looking for my balls!!

or you could take him somewhere nice and caddy for him, making oh aah noises. Wink

sorry pebblemum dont matter how hard you look they're not there....

I'll get my coat

i did find a golf course that also had a health club and thought of sending dh off to play golf while i was pampered but thought that was a bit of a cheek as it is his b'day not mine Grin

Caddying is not my idea of fun, he keeps trying to get me to do it but so far he has had no luck.

Love that man down girl!!lol...idea No1, buy something sexy(figleaves has a sale on) bring some nice Champers,
an a la carte meal wow..believe me he loves his golf but I bet he loves you more... he will be so shocked he wont forget this birthday for a long time and it wont be because of some poxy golf course (do not leave the room woman!!)one night of uninterrupted passionate lovin is a gift any man will appreciate Wink

I'd go for idea 1. My DH would appreciate the golf as well, but not at the expense of spending time together on our own, for a change.

Problem with No2 is that you will need clothes and clubs for yourself, and without any lessons or anything a full round would be a nightmare I imagine. No way I could mamnage it.

Thanks for your input, think i will probably go with no.1. The more I think about it, it does seem the best option. Knowing my luck it will rain if I plan the golf ones whereas if we are shut in a room it wont matter!! Plus I like the idea of a four poster bed Grin

Just got to convince my MIL that she wants the boys for that night!!!

I bought DH a cookery lesson and stay over at the hotel - It was brilliant - something to do together and a romantic night to boot !!with oodles of vino - He always was a good cook but this meant that he got more in to it - So a win/ win situation !!

just to let everyone know that after deciding on option 1 I found out that the hotel was fully booked so I started another thread asking for other hotel options in my area

Have now decided on the Macdonalds Botley Park Hotel in Southampton. It is only down the road and is supposed to be very nice (no four poster bed though Sad). It is a Golf and Country Club so there is something for both of us. We can go swimming etc and the next day I have arranged for DH's dad to come up for a round of golf with him while I pamper myself. Its only £84.00 for room and breakfast so it leaves enough in my budget for a posh meal and any extras.

Thanks for all your help
