where you are sent for training to become a british transport police officer? and for how long? dp is considering applying and i was wondering if im going to be at home with dd for weeks and weeks? (purely selfish reasons )

He would have to join the police and work as a regular officer for his two year probationary period before he could apply to work in the transport police devision.

As for the intial training it last about 9 month, and consist of time spent at regional police training centres and national police training centres as well as working in police stations under the supervision of a tutor constable. the time spent in the training centres is usually residential although you are allowed home at weekends. this time probably totals about 4/5 months but is spread into blocks with the probationer working at police station in between.

I worked for greater manchester police although this training was generally the same across the forces. It is 7 years though since i left so i am sure things have changed slightly but he would definately have to do some residential

thanks rockangel, i think hes under the impression that he can go straight into the transport police without being a police officer first? not sure if hes got this part wrong, or if its a recent thing? anyway its great to know that even if he does get accepted, that he would be allowed home from training at the weekends, im sure ill be calling for more advice from you if he does get accepted! thanks again.
