HELP MSN?????

OK a very nice Mnetter persuaded me to open a hotmail account

I have this lovely new email addy and I'd like to use it....do I need to set up an idenity on outlook? Or does it just work?

Yep it's a real address, no, you don't have to set up on outlook (unless you want to), yes it will just work.

Well I sent myself an email (from DH)...and I can't find it

it bounced back to his email with this error message

Go to the hotmail account, and send an email from there first.

........where's the hotmail account is that what I get when I click on the little man (in the bottem right?)

If you mean the little green man, that is the messenger service, but you should be able to send emails from there too.

He's pale blue....& when I click on send email it moves to outlook

Now I need to change the name it is displaying....can I do that?

double click on the little man. When it opens a new window, click on your name (it may be your email address). Click on personal settings, and there you can overtype your name with whatever you want.

No that's showing the right name.....it's when I send an email...hmmm

Can't change email name on msn :(

So my email addy is
[email protected] (for example)
but when it arrives it says

Joe Bloggs

So you can't change the Joe Bloggs bit to say JoeyB?

When I send mine, it says from "Suzy". The only way I know to change it, is through outlook.

But it isn't on outlook - my BT addy is (I know how to add my new email addy - but don't know what the pop3 thingies are)

You don't need the pop3 thingy for hotmail/msn. You click on the http button instead. I did mine this way. Give us a shout if you get stuck.

The http isn't a button on mine....it is waiting for an answer

In Outlook
You go File
Manage Identities
New Identity
Add in the new identity....then it asks for the pop3 Imap or http

& two boxes to put stuff into....no stuff

in mine it just asked for http provider, and i selected msn - is yours different?

Oh and i clicked on tools at top of my inbox, then options and mail setup.

Sorry, laptop battery about to die, and dh has nicked the lead. If I don't answer now, that is why :(
