Who does the ironing in your house?

Spent most of yesterday evening behind a huge pile of ironing while DH watched telly. Never went near the ironing board before children, now I'm never away from it... help! I even iron vests, though not knickers (I'm not insane). Who irons and what do you iron?

I do most of the ironing, but only when we have run out of clothes to wear. I hate, hate doing it but feel pleased with myself when it's all done

Er...no-one.

I hate fabric conditioner, it's almost on a par with air freshener to me..too chemical

Dh irons all his own work stuff, and he'll do his own casual shirts while he's at it.
I iron periodically - just my stuff that really needs it (cotton shirts, linen trousers etc). Most of my stuff doens't need ironing, and ds (just 2) isn't bothered by creases so his stuff isn't ironed (but I am anal about how stuff is hung up to dry - done with exacting precision that means most of it dries crease free and I have been known to rehang dh's efforts....). I very occasionally iron bed linen, if the iron's out and I'm watching tv or something, because I do love ironed pillow cases, tho usually can't be bothered.
I admit that there is something very satisfying about a pile of beautifully ironed clothes, and part of me really enjoys it, but I think that's the novelty value Wink

Don't iron anything .

dd irons her own school shirts

Dh wears polo shirts now,so no shirts to iron.

Ironing used to depress the hell out of me.Life is so much sweeter using tumble drier and folding straight away.

Hate the smell of fabric conditioner on other people, some of them are so overpowering.

I don't iron anything but I do hang them out to dry very straight (which dh doesn't) and so the childrens clothes look ok. It helps that for work I wear suits, which are dry cleaned and tops that don't need ironing underneath and dh can dress casually for work.

My mum mostly, she takes it away and brings it back. I own an ancient should be in a museum iron that only comes out for very special occasions.

I iron my stuff and ds's.

Dh irons his own stuff and recently has moaned that I don't do it.

I told him when he first moved into my little house 8 years ago that I would not iron his stuff and he thought this reasonable at the time. Does he think because we have a much bigger joint house now and a ds that my life has got easier and should therefore involve ironing his size 18 neck shirts(lots of fabric in those and he will buy 100% cotton instead of "cotton rich").

I have provided him with details of iron out services and offered to be at home for pick-ups and drop-offs (and it is affordable atm) plus I do think he should rest up more at weekends and in the evenings but not at the expense of my rest time. He can't be bothered to follow up on the iron out service for his work stuff so I'm not being terribly receptive to the moaning.

I have been known to re-hang dh's clothes on the washing line too! Glad I'm not the only one; but I also have a strict system for bagging shopping..
