This was going to be a rant about some parent in softplay areas today, but now I think of it it's rather funny. Although I'm sure someone could top it!

Ok went with ds and his little friend. ds is too small to be left on his own and the place was pretty empty. In comes a mum and her little girl who came into the play area and joined us, she played really nicely with the others and was a sweetie pie. She needed help to get onto the slide and other areas which she found tricky and I obliged no probs. Anyway I had to see to ds who had bumped his head so left this little girl and she started to moan a bit and scream and call me mummy! Whilst I was sorting ds out this little girls mum came over to me (still not in the play area as it was fenced off and she was wearing shoes and I hasten to add had been painting her nails whilst sitting in the cafe area) and she said (get this!)

"It's really not that difficult to pick up a distressed child and put them on the slide is it?" In a really huffy way! How insane is that!

OMG!!!!!

Similar thing happenned to me the other week at a kids birthday party. I was with ds and a little girl at the party latched on to me, sitting next to me and stuff. Anyway whilst the kids were eating I felt someone tap me on thje shoulder, I turned round and it was her Dad (bear in mind we'd never met before) and he said 'you have to take her to the toilet she's asking for you' Shock

crazydazy · 02/03/2006 21:37

You should have said back to her

"I guess it its more difficult when you are waiting for your nails to dry though".

Bint!!

NotQuiteCockney · 02/03/2006 21:40

What did you say, meggmoo?

(And Northerner, did you take the little girl to the toilet?)

Wait, you were doubting whether this woman was an insane mouthbreathing twit?

Good response, low-key, not too rude, but clear.
