sorry for the name change, but person i am talking about might come on here....rant starting.....now!

  1. she has just suceeded in getting pregnant for the 2nd time (which of course i am happy for) but its the way she tried to get preg....saying "i want to get preg desperatley so i can be the 1st out of all our friends to have 2 children (as though the more children you have the better....like she has to prove what a better mother she is by having more children...)
  1. She has bought the exact same curtains that i have in my living room....and put them in her living room
  1. they have just bought the same car as me
  1. I have just put a rug down in my living room over the past 2 weeks.....went to hers on sat and now she has one down....
  1. the list goes on, she has even goes out and buys the same clothes as me (the day after i have bought them) the same TV (exact model one month later....)

Apart from all this she is a great friend and put all this bull shit aside, a nice person.....sometimes it really annoys me as i start to think i am becoming materialistic etc when i am not naturally liek that as a person Sad

sorry....rant over

I need something to put my life into perspective when stupid things like this get me down......any wise words?

arrgh

If she does come on here, I think she'll suss you out if she has just bought some curtains, a rug, a car, some clothes and a TV exactly the same as yours.

mogwai · 28/02/2006 21:37

Chill out!

Sorry, that doesn't sound very helpful does it?

But seriously, don't worry about it. Sounds like she irritates the hell out of you, so stop seeing her so regularly

mogwai · 28/02/2006 21:38

excellent reply mmh

blueteddy · 28/02/2006 21:40

She obviously thinks you have excellent taste!

alliebaba · 28/02/2006 21:40

she obviously likes your taste so be less peeved and a little more flattered Grin

Mazzystar · 28/02/2006 21:40

imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, you know

it sounds to me like she lacks confidence - and admires your sense of style and taste.

it must be VERY irritating, especially as all these things cost money. i had a friend who used to do this a lot (but this was when we were at school and therefore a long time ago).

busybusybee · 28/02/2006 21:44

It sounds to me like she admires you and your sense of style. I would be very irritated by this behaviour and tbh would not find it easy to chill out and be relaxed about it. If it were me i would try and speak to her in a sensitive way to find out why.

Mazzystar · 28/02/2006 21:45

maybe you could go shopping with her?

(ps hoping the clothes look better on you than her)

hermykne · 28/02/2006 21:46

anon
i think its strange how people find the time and energy to "copy" friends, without saying - listen love the curtains, would u mind if i choses the same - it would drive me nuts too, if i began to see a mirror image elsewhere.

maybe say it to her, jokingly , when you next get something that you can see her summing up and asking where it came from.

a friend of mine range before hse purchsed a bag from a label i have a particular fondness for becuase she told my other friend oh h is always known for xxx do you think she'll mind.
did i hec - we can be sisters in bags!

notasheep · 28/02/2006 22:34

dont think she would be a friend of mine

fastasleep · 28/02/2006 22:35

charliecat · 28/02/2006 22:50

Trawl charity shops buy vile things, gush over them and laugh to yourself as you bring them out the cupboard solely becasue shes visiting :)

VeniVidiVickiQV · 28/02/2006 22:54

charliecat · 02/03/2006 18:34

hows this going now?

mousiemousie · 02/03/2006 18:43

I find this creepy as someone I worked with did it to me - even copied my opinions and passed them off as her own - snogged my ex boyfriend - and basically turned out to be horrid - like in the film single white female.

I would give her a wide berth

twinsetandpearls · 02/03/2006 18:51

I have a fiend who does that with me which never really bothered me but now she has started copying my dd. She has bought the same hat and scarf set as my dd and even pinched her gloves - they were returned with fag marks on them!

twinsetandpearls · 02/03/2006 18:51

Dd is 4 by the way !!!! and now has a very stretched pair of tatty gloves!

Oliviab · 02/03/2006 20:36

Stop shopping in Ikea (just a wild guess but 75% of the nation has the same curtains and rugs in their living room Grin) and start shopping on Ebay for a more unique style.

twinsetandpearls · 02/03/2006 20:49

that should be a friend not fiend - yet another freudian slip! Grin
