hey everyone,
My 6mth old DS was born with angel kisses. They are quite severe to the point that when he was born we were referred to plastic surgery on discharge to rule out port wine stain. He has one on his forehead, nape of the neck and over right eyelid. When he was born I thought they were bruises caused by the dr being rough during c-section. They have definately faded but seem to be growing with him. If he coughs or strains etc they are almost scarlet. The plastic surgeon ruled out port wine stain but did not seem to think they would disappear completely and that at 1yr+ he will need laser surgery if we are agreeable. I am so unsure about this as I dont really want to put my DS through such a ordeal under a general anasthetic. DH all for it to improve future quality of life for DS. Im torn. 6mth check up with plastic surgeon due july. Any advice? Has anyone chosen to proceed with laser surgery? what were the results? If not why not?

Im watching this with interest as my dd has a sugnificant storkbite on her forehead and nape if neck. Its getting to the point where people say how lovely she is 'but whats the mark on her forehead'.

Its becoming so obvious that people are seeing the mark before her if that makes sense. I didnt know lasering was an option if its severe as everyone just says 'im sure it will fade'.

DD had these when she was born. They were more obvious when she was an infant.
She's 2.5 now and you cannot see them at all.

Unless she's having a tantrum and they sort of flare up, but disappear when she's calmed back down again.

I quite like them as they remind me of when she was a baby, just makes her madder when I'm smiling at her while she tantrums though!

DD2 had them in the same places. Though probably milder (Dr never commented). At 14 months they had pretty much vanished from her forehead - not neck, mostly gone on eyelid.

Could u ask to keep it under 6 monthly review and see how it goes and how you feel?

Both my boys were born with them. Oldest had a mark from his hair line, across his forehead, eyelid, cheek and almost to his jaw. It did fade as he grew and now as an adult he's left with the forehead mark only, like a Harry potter red scar. It gets redder when he's frustrated, or upset. but it's hardly noticable.
Next one had it in the same place, but it was lighter, his was completely gone by a few months old.
Both were breech c-sections and the doc thought it was from my ribs, seeing I am short.
I'd wait till he's a little older before doing anything about it, it may disappear al together.
