Nappies - Reusable

Can anyone recommend a brand of reusable nappies that aren't hugely bulky? I just bought a packet of Kooshies Ultra (all in one kind) and they are MASSIVE. As I live in Malaysia, where the temperature rarely drops below 30 degrees celcius I think they will be far too hot especially with their heavy plastic outer coating. Any suggestions of alternatives eagerly awaited.

They are bulky because they need to be absorbent, The Tots Bots which I am using are also quite big. This is terry and shouldn't be too warm though (like a towel around your waist).
Also don't you live mostly with air conditioning ?
You could call the nappy lady and ask her what she would recommend, she sells several brands.

Lorien, Kooshies do a lighter-weight nappy called Diaper Basics that they recommend for hot climates. try thebabycatalogue.com

FWIW, I use a nappy service that pick up my dirties and deliver a pile of snowy white clean nappies (and sell Pro-Wraps nappy wraps, which are excellent. I nearly went mad grappling with useless plastic pants when my first child was born)

Lorien, I know its unfortunate as you've already bought them but the Kooshies waterproof layer isnt breathable so its probably not the best choice for hot countries. I'm a bit of a real nappy addict so have tried lots of different ones and found the Kooshies did make my dd get quite red.

I would agree that fleece wraps are very breathable, I couldn't believe it would work but I use the Fuzzibunz which combines fleece with and a breathable, waterproof layer.

I also agree that Tots Bots is an excellent nappy but with a fleece wrap is quite bulky. We mainly use Motherease one size nappies with Motherease breathable wraps which are excellent.

I get all my nappies from Lollipop Childrens Products who offer an excellent service in that their agent visits you with a demo kit and can show you all the different types of nappies before you buy them. If you are ever in the UK you could book a visit!! You can find your nearest agent on their website www.teamlollipop.co.uk. Good luck, a binful of dirty disposables in 30+ degree heat doesn't really bear thinking about!
