do you think it is taking the piss if you ask a friend to watch your child after school as a favour and say your dh will be there before 6 and he doesn't turn up till closer to 6.30

with no apologies

and just a mumbled thank you

I would say par for the course for men, really. I don't think they realise that it matters that much. In this situation, I can imagine my dh saying "Well, it was only half an hour, fgs"

its only half an hour

tho would never do it myself

and would be furious with my dh if he did it

only narked cos for the last 10 minutes they really wound each other up ... DS does not particularly like this kid to be fair and was not overly happy with him coming back though he dealt with him fine

and DD normally has a bath at 6 so she got over-excited too

actually I'm narked cos I stood there simpering and being nice and saying what a pleasure he was and how well-behaved he was

when really he just was averagely behaved but for him it seemes really good behaviour because he can be a little tinker a lot of the time

i'd mind a lot more if it happened twice

I'd be really cross.

Next week I need to get someone to pick the kids up from school for 3 days and walk them home (as our usual arrangements have fallen through) but I will get home at the same time as they do. I still feel it's a big ask for someone to do "as a favour" and being later than agreed would be disrespectful.

I'm just knacked because DS only went back to school on Tuesday

Tuesday night playdate till 6
Wednesday night looked after kid cos mum sick till 6
Thursday .. mum still sick kid dropped off before 8am and had him after school
Friday .. different kid cos parents working
