Hi,
Hope someone can let me know if i will qualify.
Been searching around the net and the closest i have got is they say you get it if the family element is higher than the childs.
I am on smp , baby due in feb ,first child.
Boyfriend works full time and takes home 191 a week.
total income 291.
Tried to claim the working tax but wont be able to until baby is born. Not sure what our income will be then and if we can claim the sure start.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you can claim for the grant after the baby is born. If you are receiving working families tax credit. I think you have about 3 months after the birth. Hope that's helpful!

i think u have to be considered a low income family. i dont think u'll get it, but i could be wrong. govt guidelines for a 2 parent family with 1 child is around £140 a week. if u get that amount or there abouts u can get the grant. there are 2 levels of the grant £250 and £500. u get the higher amount if u are on income support. but since i claimed all the rules changed, so it may be wise to speak to DSS once your baby is born.
