We cant get our financial books /statements etc off the old treasurer.. we have been asking since March, her kids dont use the play group any more and she pops in makes vague excuses and goes.

SHe has given us/the Chair two cheques written out to pay the hall fees only and we are at our wits end trying to work out what is going on...

Surly not embezzlement???

More likely that she's being utterly vague and cr*p about keeping records, IMO. But you never know.

we have got to the point where thats all we can conclude.... we are thinking of opening a different account but want to know how much we "have"

No, you never know. Has happened round here recently - treasurer of Friends of a local primary school - don't remember the details but she was definitely helping herself. It does happen...

I think you should ring and make a definite appt to go to her house and get them.

they have done that - cant remember the outcome - obv not got the stuff - tI htink she muttered about not haveing got them sorted out,,, bla bla so neede more time

Does she not turn up to committee meetings either? Does the playgroup account need 2 signatures for withdrawals? If not I would worry. Can you get a statement directly from the bank? Sorry about all the questions!
