Is there something to go in the machine to remove mildew?

Weve been storing our old carry cot hood & muff in the shed , it was wrapped very well in several bags, dh got it out this morning, but it stinks of mildew and wondering if really its a a gonner, but that means purchasing a whole new carry cot/buggy system for the next baba.
Any ideas on how to remove it , the label says hand wash , we thought to put it in the machine on our hand wash cycle , but wondered if there was a product that could go in with it , like some kind of bacteria/disinfectant thing????????

I would wash at 60 degrees and just use it (I am scruffy). 60 deg. wash will stop the mildew from spreading, but I think it's impossible to remove the mildew stains.

just wondered what would happen if it says hand wash and we do 60 degree wash , its got plastic tubes and all sorts to hold it as a canopy. I spose if thats the only way and it gets damaged then whatever we do its not usable.

Chemists/drugstores often sell Napisan.

are you sure you can't get the "frame" out of the hood to wash /soak it ? I'm sure I managed to get pur Silver Cross one out without huge effort even thgouh it diodn't look possible on first sight. If worse comes to worse you may yet be able to get replacement covers from the manufacturer. Milton now do wipes, sprays etc which may get some of it out and Dettol do a disinfectant spray.
