That grabbed your attention!

not getting any replies to my other post entitled 'advice neede', so thought i'd try again!

ds1 (aged5 nearly 6) has been really playing up since ds1(2) got out of hospital on thursday.being rough with his brother, being rude and cheeky, deliberately naughty. Anyone any experience of this? any tips? any advice?

bump for you

mcmum · 18/02/2006 21:05

hello,

ive had similar when one of mine has been to hospital, i think it is just attention seeking, my dd was in hospital at christmas time and thye gave her a free teddy for being brave my ds was unimpressed coz he didnt get one. also when one of mine is generally poorly the other one always plays up im sure its just attention try giving him a bit of time for a hug and jigsaw or story and explain that other ds has been really poorly.

good luck

alexsmum · 18/02/2006 21:24

your right mcmum, it is totally attention seeking.
don't want him to think he can get away with it, but feelthat he feels this way.

i think its a boy thing to be honest as dd doesnt really bother

mcmum · 18/02/2006 21:36

hi, i agree i think it is boy thing, my daughter is quite good when my son ill but son gets very jealous when daughter ill.

alexsmum · 18/02/2006 21:48

he was fine when he was in hospital, although dh said that one evening on the way home, he asked if ds2 was going to die
he's just been like a wild child this evening . we took him out this afternoon and taught him to ride his bike without training wheels and heaped loads of praise on him, and he was fine but this evening he's just been terrible.

me too ! i think it must be male hormones preparing them for later life in that they must be centre of attention at all times and world revolved around them !!

alexsmum · 18/02/2006 22:52

my boys fight over the most ridiculous things.the worst thing at the moment is who is going to do things for mummy.for eg.if i say to ds2, " can you get daddy for me darling" and he says no, if i then say to to ds1' 'alex go and get daddy please ' then ds2 goes nuts and rushes off to tell daddy and ds1 will race him and both will be trying to say it first and ds2 starts crying and screaming.it's ridiculous!

fairyjay · 19/02/2006 21:29

Some bad new guys - it doesn't get better. My ds has his 14th birthday party tomorrow, and ds (12) is already starting to perform!!

mcmum · 19/02/2006 22:09

kids they're a bloody nightmare sometimes - my ds8 got up with big attitude today as it was ds party- this is worst day of my life, - what about me - who will play with me - will i get presents - im not joining in girlie disco - im not getting dressed up. as it happens my mum gave him £10 and my sister bought him a present - when he opened his envelope with money he delibrately threw it at me trying to look tough infront of mates - so i frog marched him out of door and gave him a good ticking off -seemed to do the trick
