I thought i should write this down, so i can look back and remember. Also for any one else that is thinking about taking them.
For a start i have been told that they take two weeks to kick in. I had one at 4 and have felt mashed since 6, it must be that you feel more in control after two weeks. They have effected me already i feel stoned.

Good luck with those anti-d's ForestFly they worked wonders for me. However, I was told that they can take up to six weeks to kick in so dont be disappointed if you feel no effect after two. Take care. x

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 21:49

I feel loads of effect!!!!! Just not normal

3GirlsMum · 01/12/2003 21:50

lol...whats normal???? I dont think I have ever been normal since having kids. As long as the effects end up being good ones though eh!

fio2 · 01/12/2003 21:51

how nice, I want them

only joking!, or am I?

melsy · 01/12/2003 21:57

Been taking mine for 2 weeks and feel crapier than before - they r stopping me from sleeping. Have to take double dose from wed so will be walking crazeeeeee demented zombie.have great May be we should create an AD's self help club in a padded cell!!!!

JJ · 01/12/2003 21:57

My first few days were queasy and weird, too. (Howdy pardner, welcome to the farm, btw.) It got better once they kicked in after a week or so. I'm on the old drug Citalopram, essentially the same as yours.

Don't know how to explain the first few days. I could tell that the depression was still there, but it didn't matter so much. I was almost an outside observer on the lows. That's not getting it, but the best I can do. Plus I did feel sick to my stomach. That went away fairly quickly.

Great idea to write about it, FF.

melsy · 01/12/2003 22:01

Forestfly wot r u taking????they sound better than mine.

JJ · 01/12/2003 22:03

Melsy, when are you taking yours? I've heard that they can cause sleep problems and, if so, you should take them in the morning. Plus, if they're not right for you, they're not right. Talk to your GP if you're unhappy.

I hope things get better soon -- really hope that you find something that helps you the way it's helped me, iyswim.

Fio2, maybe you should talk to your GP? Really. I was hugely skeptical until I needed them. They've made such a huge difference.

3GirlsMum · 01/12/2003 22:03

I was on Prozac, the queasiness was like nothing else and I did find it hard to look after a baby whilst taking them. However, once they kicked in I did feel a lot better. I had trouble sleeping at night as well and found I was better once I got myself into a routine every night, bath, hotchocolate or horlicks, read book then bed. Took a while but I started to sleep better.

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:05

I just feel more than i thought i would, i feel drunk i think, not sure. I am very scared though that if i feel this numb i'll stop giving a shit about anything. The pain might go but i might escape from any feeling. it is very bisarre, wish i'd been told i'd feel an effect straight away. I'm also a bit giddy

fio2 · 01/12/2003 22:06

thanks jj. My gp is stupid though, doesnt listen and my dh keeps saying she'll put I'm unstable on my notes - she most probably would. iykwim (you most prob think i am talking rubbish)

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:07

My gp was great fio, she was lovely told me i was normal and then packed me off to the funnyfarm. I feel high actually

Anyone tried Fluxotine - I have been prescribed these ... but for the sole reason of not wanting to feel "mashed" I have avoided starting the course ... any advice ? ... Feeling fairly crap without them

JJ · 01/12/2003 22:12

FF, have you had them before? I hadn't. It's such a conscious thing, getting better. I mean, if you have a headache and take an aspirin, you notice when it starts going and are grateful that it's going to be gone soon. But with ADs, it's more personal -- the depression is part of you and to see it go is very weird, even when you know the depression is not who you are.

Oooh, getting all talky here, but that's kind of how I felt.

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:13

I've no advice just watch this thread, i've only had one tablet, i'll let you know. But yes i feel mashed, i'm a bit scared that forestfly might have gone on holiday, but we'll see i'll keep posting

Forestfly, my sis started taking them a few months back. At first she felt just like this but does seem on a more even keel at the mo! She was really bad , self harming and all! Now she is doing really good, she's in India at the mo! She still has her down days but don't we all? Good luck!++++

3GirlsMum · 01/12/2003 22:18

Fluoxetine is another name for Prozac I think.

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:18

I've never had them before, i was really against it, a couple of weeks ago even. I really believed that drugs wouldn't help, you just had to get to the route of why you were feeling so low. But i reached a wierd state this week i couldn't even mop the bloody kitchen floor, i was scared of how bad i felt. Now i just feel like i've gone to another planet

OP posts:
Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:20

I don't think i can see anyone this week either, they will see a big difference in me, and wonder if i've gone mad

OP posts:
Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:21

Thanks jj, i get what you mean

OP posts:
Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:22

OP posts:
fio2 · 01/12/2003 22:23

you havent gone mad ff, you are lovely

JJ · 01/12/2003 22:27

No, Fio2, you're not talking rubbish. It completely sucks that you can't talk to your GP. Is your husband being helpful here (ie, do you think she'd write it down or does he just not want to deal with it)? I feel so bad for asking that; don't want to assume the worst of your husband.

Are you in London by any chance? If so, our GP (my sons' and mine) was great. I didn't have this then, but think she'd be stellar in dealing with it. If you'd like her name (she's private--I'm in for it now, am I not?) email me. Actually, if you'd like to talk, email me.

Forestfly · 01/12/2003 22:28

I have gone mad my eyes are glazed over and i'm pissing myself at the smiley faces, oh no, this wasn't supposed to happen Your lovely too fio
