I am going to DH's Christmas party soon and have just got a new outfit for it; wore it Saturday night round town too.

I went for black trousers and a halter neck, boned, bodice type top - in deep purple with a bit of glittery stuff on halter neck. It got my 21yo sister's approval anyway.

Believe me the glitter isn't big sytle at all - not me either! It is a very tiny bit of sparkle round the neck that's it.

Next have a number of "party" tops at the moment.

My problem is that I have lots of work clothes and lots of casual clothes, just no "going out in town/party" things.

hope you have a nice time stressy head. I have got to go to my hubbies do in january. I havent a clue what to wear, I was going to go smart - casual but my Mums thinks I will have to dress smart what do you do if you have never been there?

codswallop · 01/12/2003 18:41

I would go for dressy - ish jeans - not bagy old ones I mean... with cheapo strappy shoes and a sparkly top.Or a plain black top and a sparkly necklace,

fio2 · 01/12/2003 19:01

my mum says black tousers and sparkly top..does that sound okay?

Lou33 · 01/12/2003 19:03

What about a velvet trouser suit?

fio2 · 01/12/2003 19:06

would love one who is elling them at the mo?

Lou33 · 01/12/2003 19:07

I think La Redoute are, and Kays maybe.

fio2 · 01/12/2003 19:09

oops missed an 's' there! Thanks lou, will look in the catalogue. I know monsoon sell them but they are sooo expensive

fairydust · 01/12/2003 19:12

black trousors and a nice top -then no matter what ever u were u won't look out of place

GenT · 04/12/2003 19:30

I would go for the black trousers, nice shoes, you have to love them and be comfy in them, and go for a corset, if you have just had a kid, no one would believe it when your waistline shrinks.

Elongate the legs and add glamour to the bodice, look like a million too and the envy of others.

Crunchie · 05/12/2003 14:42

Well I'm going to my works do in a black PVC catsuit and a red wig I don't know if that's any help!

Northerner · 05/12/2003 15:13

Stressyhead - I'm in Harrogate which is not too far from Leeds and we've been to Tiger Tiger lots. It is very cool and trendy. THE place to be seen IYKWIM. I wouldn't wear jeans cause I think they have a dress code, but you might want to check first. Are you eating there also?

I would wear black trousers, the obligitory (sp) strappy heels and a nice dressy top.

SpringChicken · 05/12/2003 15:27

Defo go for the corset type tops - do wonders for your figure!
also if you've got big boobs for one with straps as aposed to strapless - strapless makes your boobs look huge!

codswallop · 05/12/2003 15:33

and if you have big boobs dont wear starppy tops at all unless you have a narrow back and thin arms and chest..Yuk I hate whale arms

You could just buy a cheap new party top from Asda/ New Look to look trendy without spending much cash!
