Last week we bought a rear mat for our galaxy of ebay. It was brand new and usually cost a fortune. We got it for £30 plus £10 postage. REally chuffed. It arrived at the weekend but its rained ever since. Today was the first sunny day. I spent the afternoon battling with the seats trying to get them out and then cleaning out the car. Finally I get the mat and unpack it ready to fit and....... it turns out to be the carpet instead. Totally gutted. DH is going to be furious as he hates ebay. £40 thrown away for a piece of carpet. I have emailed the sellar as the listing clearly said mat but I don't hold out much hope. So gutted....

Can you give us the item number?
So we can have a look at the listing?

here Can you flog it back on ebay as the carpet...and whats the difference between mat and carpet

It does look like a carpet in photo on the right, which you can enlarge. So I agree w/Charliecat - sell it back on Ebay as the carpet.

Am confused too charliecat.

A mat is a thing you put over your carpet to protect it. Mats have binding along the edge and they just fit over the floor - you don't have to unscrew all the seatbelts etc to fit them. Thats what I thought I was buying. Ford do one which fits over the entire rear area or you can buy individual ones for each seat. The second photo looks like a carpet to me now but at the time it looked like a large mat. The only real difference would be that the mat would have edging and be a lot thinner.

I agree I will have to try to resell it. Even in the sellar agrees to a refund I would still be £20 out of pocket due to the 2 lots of postage.

Know what you mean now ive looked on ebay...try and resell it Or ask your seller for the contact details of your under bidder..

crunchie · 14/02/2006 16:54

I would resell it using his pictures and information (cut and paste them) If you are lucky you might get more than you paid for it!

Thanks guys. Sellar has asked if I want to return it but obviously there is the postage issue. Also if he keeps selling them not sure how easy it will be for me to resell mine. I think I will suggest that I try to resell -a weeks listing. If I don't succeed then send it back. That way I've got a chance of only loosing out one of the postages. Course he might not agree.... and maybe someone will fall in love with my beautiful carpet and bid £100's......

Really fed up and feel really silly now. But hopefully I can sort something out.
