.....been available from children to their Father???? Whats that about?

When I went to buy DPs card yesterday (we do cards but no pressies or meals out) I kept coming across "To Daddy on Valentine's Day" cards. Also Valentine's cards "From the Cat" but thats another story.

I'm getting increasingly pi$$ed off with this card-for-every-occasion culture.

That is awful!

DD gave her daddy a card - but we made it yesterday from glue, glitter and tissue paper. It looks rubbish but it cheered him up.

RAHHHH I hate the "Hallmark" culture!

hana · 14/02/2006 09:41

my sister ( who lives in canada) recently read that british people send more cards than americans do. can't figure that one out!

sharklet · 14/02/2006 09:49

That can't be right. They have cards for "sorry you just sneezed" - its ridiculous!

BettySpaghetti · 14/02/2006 09:51

and don't forget the cards for your next door neighour's sister's chilminder's step-daughters graduation from the young offenders institute

Congratulations on your new gerbil type of thing! It's crazy. I now buy cards from 'the works' and they are 3 for £1.

Hello Betty - Ds and I are setting off for 'splash' this morning. Hope it's not too busy.

sharklet · 14/02/2006 09:55

Furball · 14/02/2006 10:01

Ps - it doesn't open til 10.30 today

BettySpaghetti · 14/02/2006 10:05

Glad you said that as I was having a "senior moment" earlier in that I phoned to ask what time they opened and the second I hung up I forgot whether they had said 10 or 10.30 am -DOH!

PS-I'll be in black with 6yr old DD and rotund 19 month old DS !

Blimey BettySpaghetti, just got back now. We're both completely pickled!

BettySpaghetti · 14/02/2006 14:44

Pickled?? Did you go to the pub instead of Waitrose?

DS had a big sleep when we got back and we all ate lots of toasted sandwiches followed by some lovely carrot and orange cake kindly provided by the guy painting the outside of our house (thats the kind of decorator you need, one that brings you cake!) .

Swimming makes me feel so healthy and then I come home and stuff my face!

Can someone explain the reasoning behind sending a card from your cat/dog/pet frog/ the bat/ delete as applicable*
I see the in the shops and am always confused on who would send them!!
I.E With love on your birthday from your cat!!!

Furball · 14/02/2006 14:50

No, unfortunately we didn't even manage waitrose. DS fancied a sandwich from the cafe instead. Pickled in this case means when your skin on you hands goes all wrinkly, bearing in mind I do have a head start!
