Anyone having problems with Wanadoo?

Haven't been able to access email or any other websites apart from MN (don't know why I still have MN but I do!) for over a week - we had an email a couple of weeks ago saying we would be offline for a couple of hours while they updated a couple of weeks ago, but the service has been unreliable since then, and almost non-existant for the last week.

Can't email customer services and can't get through on the phone (although as it's 50p a minute or something equally galling maybe that's no bad thing ), and just wondered whether it's a general problem they're having and so no point in calling them, or if we've been singled out for special attention!

Anyone ... or is it really just me?

We have wanadoo. We do find it hard to upload some sites sometimes. Ebay in particular. However, its only the odd site. If you can only get MN up and no email then I think you should get on to them, hardly providing you with a good 'service' are they?

gigglinggoblin · 13/02/2006 10:38

my wanadoo email is working fine

gigglinggoblin · 13/02/2006 10:38

they are not my service provider tho, dont know if thats what you mean, am a bit thick with this techy stuff

Kayleigh · 13/02/2006 10:39

I'm on broadband with wanadoo and not having any problems.

WigWamBam · 13/02/2006 10:41

Just us then.

I have no idea why I can still get MN ... it's the only website I can access. Wanadoo thinks it's connected ... it just won't let us connect anywhere else!

We can only call the customer services line in the evening (it's in dh's name so they won't talk to me at all), and it's already cost us a fortune holding.

WWB, I have found Wanadoo to be hopeless, really really bad . During busy times, lunchtime, after school etc, I can almost never get online. I have their wireless and talk option which does not even remotely work in the way it should, I have been on to customer services a dozen times, tried to cancel my account (they wouldn't let me as the contract is for a year). They said they would send me a new live box, then they didn't and when I called to chase them up they said, oh, you have to try and reconfigure the one you've got. As I had already done that twice (taking an hour each time, like I have that kind of time) I lost the plot. I hate them with a passion and am busy spreading the word about how crap they are. I realise I have been unlucky with the rubbish kit they have sent, but their service stinks.

rummum · 13/02/2006 10:43

we have wanadoo broadband and we have no problems

wilbur · 13/02/2006 10:45

Post crossed with you last one - that's exactly what ours does - Wanadoo say we are in "Maximum security" ie connected, but then you try and access every site is Page Not Available. I am seriously thinking of writing to Watchdog.

WigWamBam · 13/02/2006 10:47

Oh heck, wilbur ... sounds grim.

We haven't had any problems with them before, but at the moment I can't see the point in spending £20 a month or whatever it is and not being able to access anything except MN! (Not that MN isn't worth it ... but I'd really like to be able to access my emails!).

Do you have the wireless option?

WigWamBam · 13/02/2006 10:51

No, just broadband. They were apparently increasing the band width a couple of weeks ago, which is when the problems started.

Ah, I have a feeling it's the wireless thing that is the problem with us. I have the transmitter in my office which is a shed in the garden and it was supposed to cover a range of 120 feet, which it doesn't at all. It just about reaches the kitchen which is 50 ft away.

Can you get access to the Wanadoo site thru someone else's computer so that you can email them rather than holding on the service line?

NotActuallyAMum · 13/02/2006 11:26

I'm having trouble with their wireless and talk too - just can't get the laptop to connect to the thing! And I've had the laptop connected to a wireless box at a friends house so it isn't the laptop playing up

Wilbur I didn't realise I'd signed up for a year! Does that mean I'm stuck with this dodgy equipment that I can't get working for 12 months?? If so I'll join you in contacting Watchdog!

WigWamBam · 13/02/2006 14:17

Wilbur, if we wait until we can get onto someone else's computer it will be at least another week before we can get this sorted. Dh did try from work the other day but you can't just leave an email, you have to fill in an on-line form - and none of the boxes were what we needed. Dh sent them an email, to which the response was "We don't understand what you are asking, please clarify". When he clarified, the response was "We need your password". When he sent the password the response was "We don't understand what you're asking, please clarify".

Hence the reason we're going to have to be calling their customer services department at 50p a minute ... wouldn't even consider it otherwise!
