nulnulcat · 11/02/2006 19:06

2 and half hours was the record stuck her in her cot after a bit until she shut up!

Latz · 11/02/2006 19:07

tried that with my dd (in the living room) she looked at me like i was mad and shut up and walked off in disgust!

SorenLorensen · 11/02/2006 19:09

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Ds2 had a belter of a tantrum the other day - he was tired and refused to go in his buggy so we could go out (the only way he will sleep in the day now). I strapped him in his pushchair (with him kicking and screaming and being a dead weight all the time), parked it in the middle of the kitchen floor, and left him - came upstairs on MN 'til he stopped (this plaintive little voice came up the stairs "Mummy...I've got a headache now." Yeah, me too.)

Yes, ignore, ignore.. However hard and earsplitting and headache inducing and infuriating. No reaction until they stop of their own accord.. And they will!

nulnulcat · 11/02/2006 19:19

earplugs help as well!

nulnulcat · 11/02/2006 19:21

actually she reduced me to tears the other day wiht the millionth tantrum of the day she stopped so quickly and gave me a cuddle so if she looks like she is going to start i tell her im going to cry and i get cuddled instead!

GeorginaA · 11/02/2006 19:21

Wasn't the famous solution a jug of water poured over their head?

hermykne · 11/02/2006 19:29

oh jesus ajug of water, thats awful

well its stopped and shes f knackered
put her jammies on straight away
gave me a big hug said sorry
got her teddy bear back - took her off her
and collapsed

it was coming all afternoon as she was getting more and more tired, no day nap anymore and some evenings are fine others a disaster

thanks for the link shrub
