what are your family dynamics?

I'm writing a children's book for 7-11 year olds and I'm doing some research on family dynamics - can you tell me about yours?

In my own family (i.e. in which I am the child - I don't have any children yet myself) the general dynamic is that my Mum nags my Dad and worries a lot, my Dad calms my Mum's worries but gets extremely irritated by her nagging, my older sister is convinced she's always right but is also very helpful to her two younger siblings, my brother (in the middle) is a peace-maker who refuses to get involved in any argument, and I (the youngest) am fairly attention-seeking and get treated much more leniently than my older siblings.

Now that we're all adults, of course, this dynamic has softened a lot, but it's still there, the same as ever.

I'd love to hear about other people's family dynamics as I want to get my fictional family just right.

please don't portray the mum as nagging that would put me right off a book.

Me (mum) spend a bit too long on the PC during the day then run around like mad from 3.30 pm.

Dad : out early and back late.

No 1 : GCSE year. need i say more.
No2 : eats constantly and delays doing any homework until the last minute.
No 3 : most babbled laid back kid there is !

I am also put off by the idea of a book with a nagging Mum, even though it happens to be true in my family!

I would really love to hear about anyone else's family dynamics if they'd be willing to tell me!

Right now I have a Mum who's a worrier and v health conscious, though also very sensible, a Dad who is over-optimistic about everything, an older sister who is materialistic and a middle brother who is slick and a smooth talker. Then my main character, the youngest girl, a geek who irritates everyone.

That's my fictional family at the mo... it could change though... any thoughts?
