I've just started one - but have been a bit put off by mu mum who said 'it's fine dear but why put all that personal stuff on a website?!'

expatinscotland · 14/02/2006 19:38

No, but I love looking at - and laughing at - other peoples'.

I have, but it's sort of secret... and only because I couldn't find any way to 'audition' for a job as a columnist lol... only 2 posts so far though!!

A good friend of mine has one, I won't post it just for her benefit really. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in September last year and the blog has been a fantastic way for her to keep in touch with all of her friends worldwide, who want news about how she's doing, what the options are, what treatments are available, etc., without her either having to email everyone all the time or have endless phone/email convos with different people about it.

That hasn't stopped some utterly evil son of a bitch sending her an anonymous blog comment to the effect that he/she is glad she has cancer as she is too ugly to reproduce (and not in the slightest bit true). That in itself would put me off having a blog, but anyone who does, I would disable the option to have people make anonymous comments. The internet is full of utter gits.

Good advice tribpot.
Best wishes to your friend.

i put one on the conception thread a diary of when i was doing iui (fertility treatment), felt more comfortable doing it on a site i was familiar with.

thats a shame tribpot.... some blog sites (most of them really) have ways you can block anonymous comments and also report harmful comments. unfortunately, when you put things in a public space, a$$holes are there too

my blogs all have anon. comments disabled. its just not worth it. (because i'm the kind of person who will find the commenter by their ISP address!)
