We didn't get the house Sad It is absolutely nuts - as you describe, you can't arrange a booking and get to it before it's gone, there's so many people looking for 2 beds. I'm not surprised - we know people whose rents have gone up 40% this year, they are crippling, so loads of people are making the dash for cheap mortgages. And yes the market does still seem to be rising. I find it all really worrying to be honest.

Good news about minipie.

AmandaCooper · 23/11/2012 23:00

You'll find something. Dsis's place is gorgeous - and they were under real pressure at the time because their landlord was evicting them and dsis had just had major spinal surgery. They ended up with a downstairs flat in an Edwardian terrace in Crouch End with loads of period features and a garden. It had to be completely gutted and renovated but it's turned out lovely.

I am third trimester tomorrow (depending on which literature you consult!) the bump is getting big!

bebejones · 23/11/2012 23:05

I've been lurking but not had time to post properly! Crazy week here, floods and all sorts! Will try and post properly tomorrow in between dodging the rain, drama classes, dinner cooking and Strictly!! Grin xxx

minipie · 24/11/2012 15:11

Hello! A much overdue post from me. Sorry for lack of update, Things have been completely hectic since 26 October when DD made her very unexpected appearance! She arrived at just 34 weeks, no idea why, waters broke on the tube coming home from work... Shock by the time I got to hospital contractions had started and she was born at 5am the next morning. Then I basically spent all my time at the hospital until we finally got her home on Sunday. She is lovely but exhausting! (Imagine a baby who really needs to put on weight, but doesn't cry for food, and sleeps every time you try to feed her... [Hmm] Feels like a battle of wills, and she generally wins - I guess that is motherhood for you)

I have only skimmed the posts I missed but MASSIVE congratulations to Quod and nannyl on your BFPs! Woo hoo! I guess the elephants have been and gone but I contribute a few dancing monkeys and some silly string as a belated addition to the parade.

AC thanks for updating the WIITers and well done on reaching the third trimester! Bebe sorry you are still waiting, we will have to stoke up the gruffalo once more... Sounds like mini person is having exciting times.

I probably won't have time to post much but will lurk ... Hope all goes well xx

Quodlibet · 25/11/2012 09:55

Hello Minipie, massive congratulations on the birth of your DD. it must be wonderful to have her home at last after what I imagine must have been quite a stressful time! Any chance of us getting to see a photo? Grin

Well I have known about the pregnancy for 4 weeks today, but have only managed to spend 7 days of that with DP who has been away all the time. Thankfully it's his very final stretch now as it is wearing extremely thin feeling like a single mother to be a lot of the time. Tuesday he is back for the foreseeable.

Bebe has the flooding been really bad where you live?

Nannyl I hope you are coping Sad.

LookAtHerGo · 25/11/2012 11:21

Good morning everyone. It's my fortnightly catch up! Boy it's busy here. Loads of news, some great, some not quite as great. None desperately bad. More on that later.

My GTT came back negative :) as I knew it would to be honest :)

Quod, sorry to hear about your family issues regarding the wedding, I echo everyone's comments about not having to tell everyone, it's ridiculous to think that you would mention something like that before and not even knowing how long it would take! How are things now? Glad the doc appointment was good and you have your scan date :)

nannyl, sorry to hear you are in the depths of HG again, it was hard enough with no one else to look after, and my occasional morning sickness was tough with E, but HG and A to look after :( I'm glad you have the option of nursery and that you have had some help around the place.

Hello again WhyWait. Happy birthday for last monday for T :)

AC, naughty - I'm 28+5 now and bigger than full term, and feeling exceedingly more uncomfortable and slow day by day, but don't worry I took the comment in the fun it was meant :)

Hey minipie, good to hear from you, I hope the weight gain goes well, glad you are home now, take it easy. Congratulations on the birth of DD.

Bebe, hope things are OK for you with the flooding and DD is OK.

Hmm, E has just woken up, so I'm going to have to update the rest of my stuff shortly once I've sorted her.

LookAtHerGo · 25/11/2012 14:31

Ok so since I was in here last we've had 2 weekends away, one where DP got ill Sad one where everyone was ok.

I've visited the car seat place in Milton Keynes looking at extended rear facing seats for E and what seats to get for the boys.

We've decided to put E in nursery one day a week, numerous reasons, I think it'll do her good mixing with the other children, it'll mean when the boys are here I have one day with them just me and them, and in that case it's best to do it before they make an appearance so she doesn't feel pushed out. So we're doing settling in this week with her proper session next week.

I had another scan, which has shown there to be too much fluid around one twin, so I'm being scanned again in 2 weeks to see if its evened out and if not what (if anything) needs to be done or watched.

E has been a bit unwell off and on, she's pretty much back to normal now, just a bit more tired I think. She's currently lying on me sucking her thumb, probably about to drop off to sleep. V cute. We were supposed to be away this weekend but E was sick Friday so we cancelled, she hasn't been sick since Friday night though which is good.

My pelvis is shot Sad and my bump is massively uncomfortable, I can't bend over properly. But it will be worth it.

DP is home now and he has the small one so I'm going to bake a cake GrinGrin

AmandaCooper · 06/12/2012 07:01

LAHG I'm actually way more comfortable now than I was at 26 weeks, I honestly felt like my skin was going to burst open but it's gone back to feeling fairly normal again. Does bump growth generally happen in spurts? With twins you must feel noticeably bigger day to day I should imagine. When is your next scan? Presumably any day now.

Minipie in the tube?!! Eek was it a big gush? Did your fellow commuters studiously ignore you, or did people help? It must have been a hell of a shock - did you have everything ready for baby or did people have to rush out to the shops? (probably a recurring fantasy of my mother's).
How is LO doing now, is she chubbing up? I like the mini finale to the elephant parade btw, think we should make dancing monkeys with silly string a permanent feature of our BFP celebrations!

Bebe how are things with you? Has the weather been awful? Hope everything is ok. You sound like you are keeping busy. Sorry you are still waiting honey, we're not standing down the menagerie yet. I shall send the Gruffalo your way - you can feed him some cake if you're not ready to shred DH yet.

Quod how is the pg coming along? I know every day of the first trimester is like a year - but it's not long till your first scan now. Presumably DP is now back for a while? Any developments re wedding gate?!

LookAtHerGo · 06/12/2012 07:47

Oh yes AC I found/find I have days where I feel ridiculously uncomfortable in my belly area, then after a few days it settles down. Usually it's a growth spurt. Day to day I don't feel bigger, but week by week I do. I've reached go slow and do as little as possible to get through the day now, thankfully E is a chilled out thing who isn't too demanding and would play on her own for ages if I needed it, but I don't leave her that long and am always chatting to her even if I'm not physically playing something.

Scan is this afternoon Grin babies have beaten up DP this morning when he gave me a cuddle GrinGrin

AmandaCooper · 06/12/2012 17:04

Hope it was good news; us when you can. I hope DS is a chilled out thing who isn't too demanding! If he takes after DH at all he'll be the exact opposite of that! Grin

AmandaCooper · 06/12/2012 17:04

*update us when you can.

Quodlibet · 08/12/2012 10:20

LAHG I hope your scan went well too.

AC all good over here, pretty much my only symptom now is horrendous bloating (I had a bit of queasiness in earlier weeks but that seems to have gone now). I am trying to focus on feeling very lucky and not feeling worried! DP is now back for good and has been tremendous at looking after me/sorting things out. Wedding gate is continuing as planned, DP's mum hasn't freaked out as much as we worried she might (slightly weirdly she seems to be treating our pg as 'provisional' at the moment which is perhaps self-protection until the scan, which is Xmas eve).

Nannyl are you coping OK? Hope things are not too dreadful with the HG.

AC how many more weeks at work for you?

AmandaCooper · 08/12/2012 10:42

Provisional? Good heavens! Shock

Ten more calendar weeks till I actually start maternity leave, but I have some holiday to take over Christmas and some more right at the end, so it's actually only seven. I've got so much still to do and I'm aiming to get organised for handover by 35 weeks.

bebejones · 08/12/2012 18:14

Hello all! I'm feeling cut off from MN, the iPhone update is pants & crashes constantly & on my laptop it just took 5mins to load up the last page of this thread from the first page! Hmm Hope MNHQ get it sorted soon!!

Shall try to update & catch up now!

When all the floods happened a couple of weeks back we didn't get flooded but the roads locally were horrendous. DH had a scary journey home on the Wednesday of 'flood week' and it took me 20mins to do the 2min car journey to school with DD through a foot of water, torrential rain & a hill that resembled a waterfall! I had to pick her up at lunchtime that day as they were worried about people being able to get home safely. DD's roof also leaked, again, so the plaster on the wall & ceiling was hacked off so her room is now even chillier than usual! Thought we'd found the hole in the felt but now it appears that there may be a leak around the roof window which we won't be able to sort til the Spring/Summer of next year as the roof will have to come off! :(

Still no sign of DH having a change of heart re TTC...no great shock or surprise!

DD has had a nasty cold bug & bout of croup, again! Rubbish night last night with her being so restless and feverish :( She was a trooper & went & did her drama play today despite not being 100% & did quite well considering!

Mini - Shock at waters breaking on tube!! Congrats on your DD :)

Quod - Shock at provisional pregnancy!!! Good Luck for scan! Is DP home now for Christmas?

LAHG - how was the scan? Hope everything is Ok :)

AC - Can't beleive how quickly your pregnancy has gone...as a bystander that is!

Think that's all I can think of for now....here's hoping I can get on MN a bit better soon!

LookAtHerGo · 09/12/2012 20:58

Hey ladies.

Well I've got too much fluid around both babies now, bah. So I've got another scan this week with fetal medicine a consultant will do the scan to check babies are both ok, then another growth scan the following week, will be at the hospital loads now. Will know more about what the plan is after this wednesday I hope. At a higher risk of prem birth (due to pressure on uterus from the fluid) cord prolapse or placental abruption if waters go, so I don't know if it changes the options for delivery for me or not. Anyway, that aside babies looked nice and healthy in there.

Sorry to hear your DP's mum is saying 'provisional' at the moment, that's rubbish :(

I'm knackered, massive and struggling now. Ball of laughs I'm turning into Wink

LookAtHerGo · 10/12/2012 07:14

It's my 35th birthday today. Grin

Feel like I'm 70 mind you Wink

Quodlibet · 10/12/2012 08:07

Happy birthday LAHG! Have a wonderful day, I hope you get some well deserved spoiling.

Sorry to hear it wasn't more straightforward news at your scan, but it seems like your team are keeping a good eye on you. It must be very hard having things go week-by-week now though and not knowing exactly when they will arrive. I bet you can't wait to meet them both.

DP's mum isn't saying 'provisional' - it's more that she isn't mentioning it at all. We went out for a family meal the other weekend (the first time I'd seen her since DP broke the news) and was expecting at least a congratulations - but nothing! She is only talking about it in very euphemistic terms eg asking me if there is anything particular I will want to eat at Xmas. It's like she can't quite look at it straight on, iyswim? Very strange, DP and I both expected her to be really excited about her first grandchild and the only explanation I can think of is that she is being cautious until the 12 wk scan. We shall see.

AmandaCooper · 10/12/2012 18:12

Omg Bebe the roof off? What an utter nightmare! It must be freezing cold in DD's room, it's not exactly tropical out there at the moment. Do you know any more about her West End debut? Hopefully she'll get snapped up for the next Hollywood blockbuster and then it'll be new roofs all round! Has she got a good part in the drama play?

LAHG happy birthday and welcome to Club 35! So what's the deal with too much fluid? Is it dangerous or are you just even huger than you otherwise would be with two babies in there? You must feel absolutely exhausted, I do feel for you. Are you starting to feel like the end is in sight yet?

Quod how weird about your MIL. Has DP asked her if she's worried about anything? I suppose the first 12 weeks are worrying for grandparents as well as parents - particularly the first grandchild. She might know people whose DC have had problems in early pg.

bebejones · 11/12/2012 20:00

Oh LAHG, sorry it wasn't a straightforward scan! (Although guessing with twins there is no such thing! Confused) How many weeks are you now?

Quod - so frustrating, agree with AC, has DP asked her if there's something wrong?

AC - DD was Little Miss Chatterbox Xmas Grin ...typecasting if you ask me!! Don't know about West End show yet, I'm sure we will find out more after Christmas. DDs room is the coldest room in the house anyway at this time of year (apart from the bathroom which is practically Antarctica) so now it's freezing! She has fleece pyjamas and a fleece blanket on her bed. :(

How are all the pregnant WIITs getting on with the various stages? I forget who is at which point!! Xmas Blush

Love to all!

(DD's first school nativity tomorrow! Eeeek! Tissues and camera at the ready!)

Quodlibet · 11/12/2012 20:15

Oooh nippy Bebe Sad. We have no central heating at all in our flat, have to make do with expensive plug in electric heaters but we don't have them on at night. I have got used to sleeping in a cooler room - it was the norm back in the day! You must be really looking forward to the Nativity - what is she being?

Well I am 10+2 over here, Nannyl is a couple of weeks ahead of me I think. LAHG are you 31 weeks now? We have our first midwife appt on Saturday and then the scan on xmas eve.

DP has not asked MIL no - she is quite a worrier and does get wound up about totally illogical things, and also is not one for talking about emotions, so not holding out too much hope of getting a straight answer out of her!

bebejones · 13/12/2012 12:46

DD was an Angel, she looked totally adorable in her slightly too big outfit & obligatory tinsel halo! Xmas Grin (They all tried on costumes & basically got given one that 'fitted' & she is so dinky I doubt anything fitted properly!) They are doing it again after lunch today & again this evening so I get to go watch again tonight! Slightly disappointed that we aren't allowed to take photos though, had to buy some!!

Christmas Eve is not long off now! How exciting, what a fab Christmas pressie! Hopefully your MIL will be 'happier' when you have had the scan.

I'm trying not to stress about Christmas, all the presents are bought & hopefully DH can pay us on Friday so we can actually buy food. Fish fingers & alphabites for tea Xmas Hmm , looking forward to a fridge restock!!

LookAtHerGo · 13/12/2012 15:14

Thanks for the birthday wishes :) And yes club 35!

Quod, sorry I read the post wrong about your DP's mum. I hope after the scan she becomes more excited.

bebe I went to watch DD be a star this morning at her nursery 'nativity' she looked v cute and a bit overwhelmed by all the people staring at the kids!

Well I'm 31+2 now. Had another scan yesterday, twin 1, the lower one, head down is in a normal amount of fluid. Twin 2 is in a massive pool of fluid, so I'm having to take meds to hopefully reduce it. Basically the babies themselves look structurally fine, but I have all this excess fluid.

The risks of the excess fluid are prem labour - due to extra pressure on the uterus, and given I'm already at a higher risk of prem birth it's best to take something to hopefully help reduce it. If my waters go there is a risk of cord prolapse (cord presenting before baby) or placental abruption. So if my waters go I need to be in hospital right away. So I might be calling 999 is it happens :S not something I really think pregnant women need to do as a rule, but given the extra risks then I would do it. Anyway, I'm trying to just cook the babies as long as possible and wait it out, hoping they stay put until Christmas at least.

Quodlibet · 14/12/2012 09:43

Aaahhh to your nativity children! I bet you were both proud.
LAHG you sound like you are being admirably calm and pragmatic about it all - a lot of people would stress I think not knowing if they would get their twins before or after Xmas! Your medical background is serving you well I reckon. When does your DP get some holiday so you can put your feet up?

Bebe I am jealous that you have completed all your shopping - I've got loads to do, and no excuses either really! No idea what to get DP this year at all.

LookAtHerGo · 14/12/2012 20:19

Each I was dead proud, my little daughter looking cute as anything.

Quod, I'm doing a good duck impression if I'm totally honest, on the surface I'm doing what I need to, putting on a brave face, inside I'm struggling, not enjoying the physical aspect of being this fucking massive and uncomfortable and just keeping everything crossed that everything is ok. The thing is, I'm trying to stay as relaxed about things as possible, I don't want to spend the next few weeks worrying about everything, as it'll just make me more miserable, but it is hard work.

This pregnancy has been a totally different ball game to my first.

Quodlibet · 15/12/2012 11:44

LAHG you need looking after Thanks [tea]
Don't be backwards about having a moan on here if you need one - you are doing a fantastic but difficult job and we all have loads of sympathy for how much of a physical struggle it must be sometimes. Saying that I think you are absolutely right about not worrying, it only makes things worse. Here's to babies staying put til 2013.
