Why is it doing this ? It sits on the window sill too an then flies off. Very annoying as it knocks on the window several times an hour

maybe it wants to come in. Do you have a stash of snails in the house? Or maybe it is trying to get spiders webs from around you windows for it's nest? I am a bit envy] as I love thrushes

Reflections. It's seeing 'another' thrush and is being territorial. Possibly.

choccyp1g · 09/04/2012 22:26

Lots of birds do this; I think they are looking at their reflections thinking it is another bird.

I have seen robins and sparrows fighting with their reflections in my garden mirror, and currently have bird poo all over my car from a long-tailed tit who goes bonkers at the windows and wing mirrors.

I used to have a magpie that did this at my bedroom window. I got quite fond of him and missed him when he stopped doing it!

It's trying to tell you where the treasure is buried. You need to follow it and dig where it lands.

I have a blue tit doing this at every window of the play house. I've taped newspaper up cos the blardy thing'll keep it up all day. Sore beak, but still he flings himself at any shiny surface.

He either wants to fight himself, or shag himself. Either way, it's praps no great loss to the gene pool if he doesn't breed Grin

Sometimes they eat the putty around the window.
