Bubblerock started this with her DH, and thought it might be good to do a MN one.
You have till Monday the 13th of FEB to find something in a charity shop for £1.50 or under...We will list them, link them and see who wins

well a least it was only £1.50! plus the listing fee it could have been worse.
Well done everyone who sold!

We all know what to look out for next time!

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 21:17

don't forget to keep watching me - mine doesn't finish until Wednesday

charliecat · 20/02/2006 21:18

Think mines reached it peak, a lot of furry laura ashley things for me next time!

How can you people still use eBay when you have read my sad tale of woe? Have you no pity? What about support for a fellow Mumsnetter huh? I try to scrape some money together by selling a prized possession and see how they treat me!

sob sob!

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 21:22

sorry Rhuby got carried away will go and read your sad tale now!

charliecat · 20/02/2006 21:23

Have you another id you can flog it on Rhubarb? If you put your address in or something they would pull the auction

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 20/02/2006 21:25

I could register again with a different email address, but as they haven't told us why they pulled it, in all likelihood whatever we did wrong on Sat we'll do wrong again. Plus it took us 2 hours to put the ad in, scanning in photos etc. Not sure I'd want to advertise with them anymore. If things go wrong they obviously can't be arsed to get in touch with you.

JoolsToo · 20/02/2006 21:25

oh dear! what a balls up!

I'm pretty new to ebay - mainly to earn money from them through cashback sites but started selling some stuff - successfully so far and personally have no complaints to date!

why don't you just register under another name?

Redtartanlass · 20/02/2006 21:27

rhubarb...that's what addiction does to you, you loose friends and you just think about yourself.

eBay and mumsnet addictive or wot

Rhubarb · 20/02/2006 21:29

I've bought things from eBay before, but can't say I'm addicted! I usually end up disappointed that they aren't what they look like in the photos! Big danger with clothes esp!

Feel bad because I convinced dh to give eBay a go and then they do this with no explanation. Plus I was the one who spent 2 sodding hours at the pc on a Sat afternoon putting the damn thing in! Never again!

bubblerock · 20/02/2006 21:39

Rhubarb, I know it must be frustrating for you but they have such a high volume of activity on the site that I assume they have an automated system for pulling auctions if they seem suspect, maybe the system stopped your auction because it appeared that your French account had been hijacked as it was a high value item and a different country.

There are so many horror stories of fraud on Ebay that I would much rather they be over vigilent even if it means suspending innocent accounts. I guess their policy is shoot first, ask questions later.

Still for you though.

Rhubarb · 20/02/2006 21:45

Would have been nice if they had given an explanation rather than just an email making us out to be fraudsters!

The email we used to register was a hotmail one, the eBay account was a UK one, etc etc. It's so frustrating not to know why they pulled it, it's like being called a cheat and not being told why!

bubblerock · 21/02/2006 11:54

Skribble, don't forget you can do a second chance offer and sell another poster to the person who bid £8 if you want to save on listing fees.

It was good fun wasn't it?! I'm still watching yours JT, it's doing really well - we have to do it again soon, then you can see mine was a total fluke!!

JoolsToo · 21/02/2006 14:51

how was yours a fluke - worrabout that scarf too

Redtartanlass · 21/02/2006 20:29

Who was "Two Attractive lustre effect/silvered pin trays" I would have bought them!!!

That was brill, I want to play next time, however there is NO WAY, I'd be able to get any clothes for less than a fiver

Our charity shops are mad, they even had Tesco baby wipes for sale at £1.95 The way they price the baby clothes, you could get brand new from Asda/Tesco.

The only thing I saw for £1.50 was a Wallace & Gromit mug!!

charliecat · 21/02/2006 20:31

They are worth about 8 quid those mugs you should have got it !!!!!!!

OP posts:
Redtartanlass · 21/02/2006 20:32

I meant to say would have bought them, if I was interested in that sort of thing!!!

Redtartanlass · 21/02/2006 20:33

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

let me check eBay, see if you're winding meup!!!

charliecat · 21/02/2006 20:33

I made a small fortune a few months ago flogging them, had a whole front room full of them

OP posts:
Redtartanlass · 21/02/2006 20:35

OMG you're right!!!! If we play again, I know what I'll be buying (if it's still there )

charliecat · 21/02/2006 20:36

Quick....back you go to get it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Redtartanlass · 21/02/2006 20:37
