Wtf is it with grown women and Tigger/Winnie the Pooh obsessions?

I've meant to post this for ages. I've lost count of the number of seemingly perfectly normal, sane, professionally qualified in some cases, women who have a Tigger or WTP 'thing' - what's that all about? I just don't get it. Are you one? Explain it then please! These are grown women with large Tiggers/WTPs on their beds/dressing tables, it's weird.

The most recent one is slim, attractive, 38, has a boyf but no children, earns about £100k a year, is ve clever and is a larf. Amazing! Ha ha moondog at woof woof, glad it's not just me that thinks this is weird. I sometimes think there's almost some sex substitution thing going on but why Tigger and WTP?

had herself tattooed??

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 13:56

it must be the pretty, bright colours that attracts them....bless

mykidsmum · 05/02/2006 13:58

I personally have a huge problem with women who have pooh ,tigger et al on their fleece tops, wtf??? A fleece emblazoned with pooh is probably the biggest style disaster I can think of

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 13:58

how about wtp ear muffs for those cold winter days... or a nice wtp purse???

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 13:59

or, you could nip the fleece in at the waist with a nice tigger bum bag...

jambuttie · 05/02/2006 13:59

I cant understand why they are all so "mad" about pooh and tigger.

But if I am honest I do have a pooh tatoo with my boys name on it. I only have the tatoo as ds1 chose it specially

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 14:00

bet it's not on your boob though to be fair....

MrsBadger · 05/02/2006 14:05

One thing that fills me with horror is how many people choose to have WTP readings at their weddings.
I mean, yes it is 'so much friendlier with two', but can you not find a more adult way to express this? Gah.

[prepares self for backlash]

WideWebWitch · 05/02/2006 14:06

mrs Badger you are joking? really? ugh!

OP posts:
welshboris · 05/02/2006 14:06

NOOOOOOOOOOOO Not at weddings!!!!!!

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 14:09

chav-tastic!!

MrsBadger · 05/02/2006 14:15

WWW - it's all true!
When newly-engaged I used to hang out on [ahem] confetti.co.uk's forum, and some of the readings posted there just made me curl up in shame and disgust - WTP wasn't the worst of it... Disney-themed weddings anyone?

(We had Dylan Thomas and Victor Hugo and were ridiculed by the Confetti posters)

expatinscotland · 05/02/2006 14:16

I'd consider it a fetish rather than a 'thing' - a whacked fetish.

welshboris · 05/02/2006 14:16

Dylan Thomas is always cool

welshboris · 05/02/2006 14:17

Do you think they have secret meetings? Swapping piglet stickers? Getting their eeyore fix?

fireflyfairy2 · 05/02/2006 14:18

WelshBoris, my SIL is an avid fan of WTP. She is 25, married, but not overweight

Her husband encourages it though, he buys her Royal Daulton figurines, and some other expensive ornaments with WTP on them.
She bought my dd a WTP bedding set when she was born and I said "I hate him" She didn't take offence.. just laughed! But on xmas eve my MIL came up and my sis had bought my dd a WTP musical toy..I said to her how much I hated WTP and couldn't wait til the batteries ran out... only for my MIL to hand her a WTP novel/book engraved with her name and told her it was expensive and to put it away so it wouldn't get destroyed

welshboris · 05/02/2006 14:20

Im sure some woman who have the obsession are normal, but there are loads who are plainly obsessed and like a PP said, using it as a sex substitute.

Use rabbits, not tiggers!!!

alliep30 · 05/02/2006 14:23

no..they're not normal

jambuttie · 05/02/2006 14:32

no no no tatoo is on my left shoulder so pretty much hidden

love to show it for the boys name though but 99% of the time it is hidden under a t-shirt

Stilltrue · 05/02/2006 14:47

Oh and grown women and "Hello Kitty"... What's it all about?

RosiePosie · 05/02/2006 15:11

My step mother is 48, a nurse and has a tigger obsession - sweatshirts, socks, key rings - the lot. And she insists on buying tigger emblazened stuff for my kids too - it's bad enough on a two year old ( poor kid ) but 48??!!

Enid · 05/02/2006 15:12

err

are there really women like this?

weirdy freaks

RosiePosie · 05/02/2006 15:14

Yeah! And she's married to my dad .

belleroo · 05/02/2006 15:20

Maybe its just a bit of fun and makes them happy!

Whats wrong with that? Each to their own and all that.

p.s. I do hate WTP / Disney clothes though.
