My pc is very slow to start up and we theres not much on it at all. dp wondered if its coz we have 2 sign in names (his and mine) and is it loading everything twice? No viruses, we checked, what could be making it run slow. new pc too just a few months old.

Was it slow to start up when you got it? Where did you buy it from?

MerlinsBeard · 04/02/2006 19:11

having 2 sign in options should NOT make it slow.

it must be something else! (sorry!)

PC World should have a 1 year warranty - ring them and ask. They might check it for you for a small sum (£30 or so) and speed it up.

The 2 sign in options slows it down if you have both logged on and running stuff, but I don't think it should slow down the start up - we have 4 log ins!

You can try the alternative logons
The non fancy no icons ones.

Things that make your log on time slow is your profile. This can be fancy wallpaper etc and what ever's in the startup.

Culprits are printers/scanners.

Theres a utility called startup.cpl (google it) and that way you can see whats what.

ANother things is a wrongly sized pagefile (much less likely)
