I so agree Rosa! So glad I didn't watch it.

MerlinScot · 13/01/2013 17:28

I heard that on the news and I think I started feeling nausea just hearing they had met on TV... Are people still watching this crap in Italy? Disgusting.
I also received a link on my FB page about Barbareschi e Le Iene... ma mandiamoli tutti a casa!!! It would be wonderful if we could start from scratch again!!
I can't believe there still an Italian, even only ONE, who believes Berlusca... And this ONE, must be drugged or drunk to the bone...

Rosa, not losing much weight either... I super-exercised and ate a lot less and I lost only 2 chili :(

Franca, how's your backache?
x

Francagoestohollywood · 13/01/2013 20:30

Sadly, there is plenty of Italians who will vote B. again and again.

My back is better, thanks Merlin, and I am seeing the physio on wednesday.

Rosa · 13/01/2013 21:43

Dh and I had the same conversation about who will vote for B. its unlikely to be jo public. but there will be some but, people who have a reason to put him in power. Plus we wondered if he has done something really ilegal ( again) and he knows that the shit is going to hit the fan so he wants to get elected so he can save himself.
We are booked for Fuerteventura ..spoke to dd1 teachers who said they expect each child to take at least a week out at sometime and also that dd is unlikely to fall behind plus the teachers can see that we are genitori who colaborate with dd. Found a bargain and also my parents are going to join us for a week. We are there for 11 days coming back at the ponte x carnevale( oh dear I am missing most of Venice Carnival how did I manage that???? Wink

MerlinScot · 14/01/2013 11:15

Rosa, that's wonderful!! You'll all have a great fun there!! Never been to Fuerteventura but a few friends had a holiday there years ago and said it was awesome!!

Franca, glad your back is getting better!!

About B. (who should be associated with Voldemort by default, so to be called 'the-one-politician-who-cannot-be-named'), I will never come to grips with the fact people want him in charge... maybe because I don't want to accept that 50% of Italians have been so stupid to let him win the elections so many times... It makes me feel anti-Italian alla massima potenza... :( :(

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2013 14:08

Ah, brava Rsao, well done! That is really something to be looking forward to, che bello!!!

Merlin, yes, I agree.

Rosa · 14/01/2013 14:56

I don't vote so cannot be blamed !!! ( I can't vote as I am not changing my citizenship!)

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2013 15:03

I've never voted B. Actually, I always vote the same. Boring, I know Grin.
I did vote for the Council once, in the UK!

MerlinScot · 14/01/2013 22:01

I've never voted the disgusting B. either.
Rosa, you're lucky, because Italians have to vote abroad too. The only way to stop voting is to renounce to the citizenship but I still have to do it.
I feel it is even silly that someone who has not been living in a country for years has a say in politics in the original country...

Rosa · 15/01/2013 06:24

I should vote in the Uk but I am not registered anywhere - I should make an effort. I vote here for the council however ..

BananaGio · 15/01/2013 07:30

He is everywhere! Everytime I turn on the TV his orange face is gleaming out at me!
I think one of things I find so depressing is how the cult of personality seems overpower everything, commonsense, the ability to think for yourself etc. I watched Santoro and while I thought he did better than I expected ( kept his cool, didnt walk off, and delivered his usual showpiece) I couldnt believe it when i turned on the TV the next day and saw everyone said he had won the debate! He repeated the same bull, made me cringe with his Ruby explanations and the his no way his attack at Trevaglio in the end matched the list Trevaglio went through earlier but still he won? Boh? I just dont get it. Monti got it spot on with his Pied Piper comment.
Rosa good on you for booking your holiday. Summer seems a long time away. Hate january!

Rosa · 15/01/2013 09:40

I am not waching the news on the main tv - just the odd 5 minutes on sky or on the Uk papers . I just can't support it and him. Mind you did I hear wrong in Monti saying he is going to abolish the reditometro ? I thought he brought it in - seems to intellegent for B and his boys ... Or should they be reffered to now as the PP and his rats?
Raining and cold here today . Minirosa has a real chesty cough first thing in the morning and then it vanishes - rather like a smoker Hmm

Happy belated 2013 everyone, just catching up. Lets see, had a good xmas, check, overate massively, check, Berlusconi hatred, check.
Gio I did my first shred in ages on Friday, I was a wreck next day! I'm contemplating another one but DH is at home with a broken leg (ice skating) and it's a bit embarassing with him here.

Rosa · 15/01/2013 10:31

Hi Sputnik - sorry about DH . I got on skates did one lap with dd and that was it I have decided my legs have forgotten how to skate ! DH went on and fell over decided that was that so the dds had a very helpful cousin . DD1 has a skating party next week and thankfully there are 2 skaters that help them round thank heavens.
As for the shred I have it unopened and I feel guilty but I am doing lots of exercise ( and have just finished a panino al l'uva - excuse they were still warm and oh boy did it taste good).
Nil inspiriation for teaching english domani to a bimba in 5a elementare...arrgghhhh

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2013 12:31

Ciao a tutte, hello Sputnik! Sorry to hear about dh, poverino! I would love to ice skate again, but I haven't done so since, I think, 1984... I'd worry about my back!

Lets not talk about Berlusconi until the elections are held. I am so worried about them, I feel like putting my head in the sand. Sad

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2013 12:33

Oh, you know what we totally forgot to comment? Kate's pregnancy!!!

Rosa · 15/01/2013 15:41

Oh is she pregnant must have missed it ! Hmm

Congrats to them is all I can say !

OP posts:
MerlinScot · 15/01/2013 18:17

Yeah better to comment on Kate's pregnancy than Mister B.!! GRRRR

By the way, I dared to post on another thread on Mumsnet, the one about the NCT. Has anyone had any opportunity to do one of their courses? Just asking for your opinion, because it seems there is a sh*tstorm going their way LOL

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2013 18:30

I did! I did the course when I was pg with our second, because our first was born in Italy and I thought it'd be good to know how things worked in the Uk. Plus I was hoping to meet nice people.
The lady we had wasn't simpaticissima, and she hated me, I think, because I said that giving birth bloody hurt. I was a bit shocked by my first labour, it is true, but she wasn't sympathetic at all.
On the other hand, the lady who was the breast feeding adviser was lovely.

I think it was quite useful in that I got lots of info, plus it helped feeling more in control when I laboured. Dd's birth was in fact a lovely experience, but mainly because it was quick Grin

MerlinScot · 16/01/2013 11:22

Franca, thanks for your feedback!! Stranamente your feedback isn't dissimilar from others although your experience was overall a positive one.

If the lady disliked you because of your comment, it seems that many were downright shunned after they had asked for an epidural at the hospital or even had a c-section. I was a bit interested in the debate at the beginning because NCT is promoting itself as a source of help for all the mothers while many said that wasn't true if you're not going to have a natural birth.
Unfortunately, I know already I can't have a natural birth because of my back-spine (I've a degenative situation at 11 vertebraes' discs in the cervical and lumbar part) so even in the remote possibility I decided to get pregnant (which doctors already advised not to Sad ), I won't be able to face a long labour or labour pains at all.

So mainly that's why I was looking for info. I got bored of the debate after a while though because it was becoming nasty and people just going off topic....

Francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2013 12:00

Sorry to hear about your condition Merlin, I hope you get all the support you need when you decide to start your family. I am sure there must be support for women who face a more medicalized birth, and I peronally believe that a well managed c section is as lovely experience as a good vaginal birth (if not better!)
There are, as you are aware, many wonpmen who experience various degrees of traumatical vaginal births!

I haven't read the thread on the nct.I thought that the course was fine and the couples I met there were rather open minded about labour etc. I just thought the lady didn't like me to chip in because she probably thought I'd scare the others off!

Rosa · 16/01/2013 12:36

Merlin thats a bit of a bugger about your back. Should you decide to go down the baby route as Franca I hope you get all the support needed. I haven't been on the NCT thread as I had both my dds here and they would probably have 40 fits about no gas and air and few and far between epidurals. I was happy with both my pgs and births and felt cared for and looked after with both. ( apart from a riasciamento dal vivo 3 days after Minirosas birth !)
Its foul here wet and windy makes you want to curl up and watch sette sposi per sette fratelli on the video!

Francagoestohollywood · 17/01/2013 13:13

Snow was forecasted here for this morning, but we actually have pale sunshine. Boh. So envious Rosa of your trip to Fuerteventura, the whole Franca family feels the need of some light and warmer weather. The alarm goes off here when it is still dark, both dh and myself just feel like crawling under the duvet until it's May.

MerlinScot · 17/01/2013 13:15

lol Rosa, it was on TV here after Christmas... I love that movie!! Blush

Thanks for your support ladies... We'll see how everything ends up in the future... my backache is getting worse every day and here to have a decent medical care is a sort of mission impossible.....
Off topic, I was reading about Lance Armstrong's interview these days... I see there are many people as arrogant as Mr. B.!! Shame on them! Shock

MerlinScot · 17/01/2013 13:19

Franca, I completely agree with you and your dh!! Crawling under the duvet until May seems a good idea.. Plus at home I've now a Hawaian calendar in the kitchen (I've a friend living in Hawaii who sent it as Xmas gift) and I die of beach-sickness after I turn my eyes towards it... LOL

Here the frost didn't melt in 4 days... never seen anything like that after the winter in 2010, it feels like I'm living in Iceland....
