Just out of curiousity, did anyone of you have to make the 'trascrizione del matrimonio' in Italy?
If yes, was it expensive? The consulate emailed me a long string of bureaucratic idiocies, in the end the operation will probably cost more than the marriage itself!! Is that possible? Just wondering if any of you had to go through it.

Then it also appears silly, because in UK I've already taken up my husband's surname, something that it's not possible for the Italian law (soliti cretini).

Sputnik · 06/11/2012 15:44

No idea Merlin, sorry. I got married in Italy.

Francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2012 08:21

Ah yes. yes. yes. Go Obama!! Grin

Merlin, I have no idea, sorry. Also, I didn't take dh's surname!

Rosa · 07/11/2012 08:43

I got married in Italy and had a blessing in the UK. i wanted to take dh surname but it wasn't possible but in Naples a few of my friends did. Also the British consulate in Rome advised against it. It bound to cost lots and needlots of timbri.

And this morning the consiglio di stato has rejected the appeal of a parcheggio in Milan which wanted to abolish the area C. Yuppie!!!!

Rosa · 07/11/2012 10:18

AM pleased as well thought Rommey was far too slimey . Well thats America sorted for the next 4 years Italy next ????
Today went for analisi ( al pretty routine). I had to do 3 seperate tickets so had to pay the various amounts and then the tax on top . So on top I had to pay ?30 insetad of them totalling the amounts and me paying?10 once - bloody ladri.....

There's a striscione up in our neighbourhood saying "altri 5 anni di Monti, oppure #vendola"
Thoughts anyone?

Francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2012 12:31

Yes, I suppose tickets are getting more and more expensive... Hmm

I will go and vote for the primarie del PD, but to this day I don't know who to vote for.
Bersani? Boh, I mean, I think he has taken responsibility for the governo Monti and its unpopular moves, for which I admire him. But behind Bersani there is the same old politicians.

Renzi? Boh, not sure.

Vendola? I think he is a good man, and I approve of his ideas in terms of some social policies, but not convinced 100%.

Laura Puppato seems ok.

No one gets my enthusiasm.

I would prefer another 5 yrs of Monti than any Berlusconi, Lega or Grillo, that's for sure.

Francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2012 12:32

enthusiastic approval, I meant

Rosa · 07/11/2012 15:23

Grillo is getting more and more popular .... I don't get him as he seems to just shout and say all the bad things which everybody has done.. However I must admit to not following politics properly as it all baffles me . The one who offers to drop the salaries or the politicians and benefits and pensions would probably get my vote !!!
I wonder if Italy will still have any tax payers if MOnti carries on ..Probably all the depenti . But us with a piccola imprese / ditta we haven't got a hope. I admire him for trying as all the shit that Berlusca and his crowd have left its going to take more than the time he is allocated....

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/11/2012 15:24

Dissn't Monti say that after 2013 he is going anyway .....Wonder how big a pension he gets?

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2012 17:07

Yes, I think that at the moment the taxation is too much on everyone, especially those with small business. My hope is that they keep chasing big tax evaders.

Not sure what Monti will do after this election, and no idea re his pension. By the way Monti and Prodi have been the only ones who dropped their positions as professori all'università when they got into politics!

Grillo will never get my vote, but yes, it is absolutely necessary that privileges and high salaries get a cut.

MerlinScot · 07/11/2012 20:04

Thanks for the answers ladies :)
Rosa, the law for taking up the DH surname is ridiculous... years ago women were forced to take it up, now they can't at all.. I mean, why not leaving a choice? Baffled! Anyway, I think that if one day I'll have the British passport, I just leave the Italian one in the drawer.. Not happy to travel with documents with different names, wouldn't like to be arrested Shock

W Obama!! Happy Romeny didn't win after what 2 of his beloved Republican senators said about women's rights!!

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2012 16:49

Ciao!
Yes, I agree the Republicans in general seem to have some very Hmm ideas on women's rights and wmen's health! This shift towards super christian ideas is unbearable (imho)

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2012 16:49

And the tea party movement as well

BananaGio · 08/11/2012 17:36

agree Franca. very scary people. Although the only positive thing is that the more extreme they get the more unelectable it makes the GOP. Went out with some American friends last night and had rather too many glasses of wine celebrating with them....DS is in a very moany mood so is going to bed super early so I can nurse my hangover on the sofa with Homeland and chocolate

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2012 18:00

Sounds like a good plan Gio! Have I already asked you what this Homeland is about/like? Should I watch it?

Thursday are extra busy here as both dc are coming home late from their allenamenti and will also need showers/ lots of food.

But once they are in bed I am planning the Killing, and choc. Though I overdosed on extra yummie cioccolatini over the we

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2012 18:05

Oh ffs, ho bruciato the vegetables!

BananaGio · 08/11/2012 19:22

oh Franca you must watch Homeland. Am sure you will love it. Classy American thriller drama about an American POW back from Iraq and who may or may not be a terrorist and a Homeland security agent with issues. Watch it and report back! One of those that leaves you wanting just one more episode and making you have too many late nights.
I watched first series of The Killing. Need to get series 2. Thought was amazing.

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2012 19:43

Oh I def will watch it, sounds great!

We are watching season 2 of the killing and I think it is very good. Do miss Myer though. And next week it's season 3 on bbc4!

Francagoestohollywood · 09/11/2012 09:30

I have just ordered the dc's main presents on Amazon. I feel incredibly efficient.

BananaGio · 09/11/2012 12:05

you are good. what are you getting them?

Francagoestohollywood · 09/11/2012 12:47

dd will get the playmobile school, she's been drooling after it for at least 2 yr (hope she hasn't changed her mind since last week when she listed all her desiderata!)
ds is getting a big box of lego bricks + platform. I will also buy him yugioh cards etc.
