we have just bought a chariot cougar. They are also a little expensive but you can get 2 different types of laying babyseats - one a carry cot(probably not suitable for summer for a 4 month old) or a sit up baby seat, for a sitting up baby they also have a head support thing.
We are really happy with the chariot (so far), its light, fold well and ds loves it.

staceysmom · 20/05/2006 21:57

thinking of buying the croozer 535 child trailer and getting the baby sling seat, does anyone use this model.

leogaela · 23/05/2006 10:24

I've seen the croozer, its quite a popular one here, but it depends what you want to do with it. A friend of mine has it and likes it. Check if it has susepension (I don't remember) if you are going off road at all, even if you are going on forest paths I think suspension is a good idea. Also see if it has a baby seat or some kind of support suitable for a pre-sitting up baby. I don't think its too practical to fold and put in the car and its a lot heavier than the Chariot - if you plan to cycle up any hills or put more than one child in it every extra kilo counts - which is why we went for the chariot.

oh a biking thread! I've jsut bought a cheap bike off ebay, so see if I can get into it. Used to cycle a lot as a teenager, had a decnt bike then that my bro destroyed. Then I had kids and moved to London so I gave up altogether, but I am getting so overweight I need to do something. We now live jsut down the road from swinley forest so I thought would give it a go this evening. I wouldn't dare cycle on the road these days, much prefer offroad.

staceysmom · 24/05/2006 10:44

i went ahead and brought the croozer 535 as it seemed good value for money, got the baby seat as well although no suspension but it should be fine for the tracks i want it for, it hasnt arrived yet but i cant wait to get back on my bike.

Chapsmum, are you back yet? Tell us all about it!!!!

Kelly -have you been out on your bike yet?

Staceysmom - how is the croozer?

We went out for a long, long ride on Thurday with ds in the trailer, he seems to really enjoy it which is great. I've found an area right on our doorstep where there are some single trails. Not done more than that though as I am a bit more focused on running at the moment.

staceysmom · 01/06/2006 12:42

my croozer has still not arrived, waited in all this week for it and getting fed up now. will chase it up again tomorrow.

Kelly1978 · 08/06/2006 17:19

leogaela, I went out, the first time I realised it was too short and the saddle was like sitting on a brick. So I sorted that out. The second time I got most of the way round virginia water lake and the handlebars came loose and threw me off! BlushGrin
I'm not giving up yet, but I haven't had a lot of time lately, due to study. i'm beginning to wodner if buying a cheap bike is false economy though. Smile

leogaela · 13/06/2006 08:41

Kelly, lol! Have you managed to get the bike fixed again?

staceysmom - have you got the croozer yet? And?

staceysmom · 13/06/2006 20:10

hi leogaela, the cruiser finally arrived on monday evening but i having trouble getting the baby seat to fit, but all being well hoping to get out on sunday.

UniSarah · 18/06/2006 21:22

and another one saying- ohhh a cycling thread.
Hi I'm unisarah, I cycle on both 2 and 1 wheel and have a CTS single child trailer waiting for our boy to grow into (hes 3 months now). I counted the wheels in the garage today = 23.( 21 attached to frames) anyone want to guess how many cycles we own! (2 adults 1 baby).

staceysmom · 19/06/2006 13:16

hi unisarah, ive just taken the croozer out for the first time using the baby seat but although it was recommended for use from birth it was very upright. my baby 5 months now and went straight to sleep in it. It felt great though to be out again even though we were on a flat track.

leogaela · 20/06/2006 10:17

Stacey's mum, good to hear you and your ds enjoyed the Croozer :)!

Uni-sarah, does that wheel count include pushchair, car etc...?
We have 14 wheels not including pushchair or cars, I though that was a lot, 21 is very impressive! where and when do you ride your unicycle?

This Sunday ds woke up at 5.30 (as usual), it was so beautiful outside, clear blue skies, fresh morning air... I was out on my mountain bike with him in the trailer for by 8am :)! He looooooooves the trailer, when we go into the garage he climbs sometimes climbs into it, gets mad when I take him out. Sunday afternoon I finally went out on my race bike, only did about 15K (bike computer not working), but it was a hilly and punishingly hot 15K - that's me hooked again :). Sorry Chapsmum when I cycle alone (which I do a lot) I prefer to be out on my race bike, the mountain bike isn't going to get quite so much use I fear.

UniSarah · 20/06/2006 10:55

No car will fit in our garage- too many cycles. the trailer is included inthe count but no other pushchair. they are all cycle wheels! scary how they accumulate.
both dh and i have multiple unicycles, we play uni hockey ( dh's in UK A team, I'm in the South West team) ride of road ( muni) and do long distance road rides , or rather did before baby. Not sure what to do with my 36 inch wheeel road machine, at present its on loan to a friend.
Tonight I get to go and ride for an hour! Its teh deal I've struck with dh, he wants to go on a BUG ride tomorrow and play cricket on thursday. So I get to leave him with baby when he comes home tonight and go and ride for an hour before baby bed time. Will prob take 2 wheels and do moderate hilly road route of maybe 12km. my thighs are still feeling sundays 3 mile unicycle, I want to do 5 on sunday.

paddingtonbear1 · 03/07/2006 16:00

Goody a cycling thread! Have been on the runners thread until recently as did the FLM this year, but now I am back on my bike. I've just bought a new mountain bike which is great, have been finding various tracks around where we live! Some are a bit overgrown though, have had various arguments with nettles and brambles!
My dh has just started cycling to work too. We have a bike seat for dd which someone gave us - what age do they normally go up to? DD is three and just about still fits on it! What do people use after that until they can ride their own bike? (sorry not read all the thread, no time)...

staceysmom · 03/07/2006 19:14

we used tag a longs from 3-6 years even though they could ride but it meant we could go on longer and better routes, they just attach to the seat stem.
