Sounds horribly like it's faulty/corrupted...

PiccadillyCircus · 03/02/2006 20:24

Sounds like something has gone wrong with it

littlemissbossy · 03/02/2006 20:24

can you actually see that they are still on - by file name or number? and it won't actually open them? or is there nothing there now? IYSWIM

check the cable (is it a USB one) - I had same problem with brand new camera and eventually found out that the hub where the USB cable was plugged in was faulty and plugged it into a different hub at the back of the PC and all was fine then...
worth trying

and you've had no problems with the printer?
I'd re-start it and if you still have no joy tell your friend it's knackered
sorry that I can't be of more help

do you know anyone who has a card reader?? that might work? but if they're not displaying at all it sounds like the card is corrupted

LeahE · 03/02/2006 22:05

If they are important photos you or your friend might try a data recovery product but will have to buy it as they tend to be commercial products (or the good ones do, anyway).

One example (not used this myself):

Image Recall

If they are really really important photos there are companies who specialise in retrieving the data for you but they'd be likely to charge around £100 (on the bright side, many of them operate a no data recovered, no fee policy).

LeahE · 03/02/2006 22:08

P.S. With that Image Recall product you can download a trial version, so you could at least see if it can find the photos on the card before you part with any money. You'd probably need a card reader connected to the PC though (not sure about that).

There are several bits of software out there (I've never used them) which fix corrupt memory cards. I'd google / download / try them.

You could try "compact flash" corrupted restore
