I did my ironing today. Huge pile of. It took 2 hours. When I got near the bottom I was ironing linen trousers and summer skirts with peg marks on.

So...does this qualify me for the MN Slatterns Club?

I don't do ironing, ever. Dd doesn't know what one is (she's 2).

Hallgerda · 03/02/2006 11:26

I don't iron either. I've even posted about the infested state of my kitchen cupboards. May I join?

SorenLorensen · 03/02/2006 11:27

When ds2 was about 2 we were at the ILs and MIL got out the ironing board and started doing the ironing. Ds2 stopped dead in his tracks and said "whassat, Ganma?"

I never iron (but the cleaner does)

I do not know if that makes me a slattern or a capitalit scumbag pig though

SorenLorensen · 03/02/2006 11:47

Both

ooh can I join - I never did know what slatterny meant, it was written on my school report when I was 14 and never did know why. I NEVER iron, dh does his work shirts and nothing else. My MIL (lovely lady, bit anal!) came over last week and while I was asleep (ill) she emptied mine, dhs and dds wardrobes of all our clothes, ironed them and then put them back neatly and folded. What a star, people don't recognise me any more. Funny thing is though, she didnt tell us she'd done it and still hasn't - I'm pretending we haven't noticed, meany that I am, but even dd who is only 3 said "mummy, why are my clothes all straight?"

Lio · 03/02/2006 12:30

I once had to ring dh at work to find out where we keep the iron.

I've just cleaned my oven.

For the first time.

We've lived here 3 years.

(we have people coming to view the house this weekend, or i wouldn't have cleaned it at all!)

georginars · 03/02/2006 13:13

ah yes, I've heard of this ironing lark. do you need special equipment for it?

I am too embarassed to have any of my antenatal group to our flat. our oven has been cleaned once in 4 years (and my mother did it )

SorenLorensen · 03/02/2006 16:44

Well if I can't be a Slattern I'm going to be UberHousewife - I washed my doormats today!
