... Would you?

Can't convince myself it's a good idea but need to replace my phone cheaply!

My DH bought one and it only lasted a week or so!!
Maybe someone on here has one for sale?

Auntymandy · 01/02/2006 17:06

how much is cheap? there are some good deals around

scienceteacher · 01/02/2006 17:06

I have done this and it was fine.

However, I was looking at the Virgin Mobile website yesterday, and they are selling a new triband phone (famous brand, but I can't remember which) for £10 and are giving you £15 air time. Can't really get cheaper than that!

LadySherlockofLGJ · 01/02/2006 17:08

Someone on here bought one for their DH over Christmas, turns out it was stolen and had been locked (whatever that means) and they couldn't use it.

Missblossom · 01/02/2006 17:10

I got one from ebay last year for my daughter, didnt work at all a waste of £14, but you can buy one cheap enough for about £20 I got one from woolies.

SoupDragon · 01/02/2006 17:17

Yes, I thought Ebay would be hit and miss really.

Thing is, I need to be able to use the new O2 SIM card I'm being sent so I can keep my number.

Of course I forgot to renew my contents insurance and it ran out yesterday so they're unliely to cough up for a new one!

Ho hum... I'll have to do more research!

SoupDragon · 01/02/2006 17:26

My problem is that I'm a phone snob

I've had a "shouldn't have got out of bed" day today.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 01/02/2006 17:27

(sorry, the phone-snob comment wasn't directed at you, spacecadet )

I'll get back to you SC... I'm still vainly hoping mine will turn up when the cleaners clean Debenhams this evening...

spacecadet · 01/02/2006 17:34

pmsl..no probs, the offers there, its only sitting in a draw doing nothing, hopefully your phone will turn up.

spacecadet · 01/02/2006 17:35

or a drawer for that matter..duh.

rummum · 01/02/2006 17:37

I got cheap phones (nokia 3310)'s for the kids for about £12...+ postage, then I put a tesco's sim card in them.... you can't go wrong...
but then I'm not a snob

spacecadet · 01/02/2006 17:38

its a flip phone btw

Auntymandy · 01/02/2006 17:40

I have a nokia, thats too big for the hands free thingy in my car!! Routing around the house to find my old Nokia!!!

NotQuiteCockney · 01/02/2006 17:47

I bought my last two phones from Ebay. One used, one new, no problems. You do need to be cautious when buying phones, and yeah, sometimes things will go wrong.

SoupDragon · 01/02/2006 18:23

I do have an old Samsung but I remember "tidying up" the charger last week and that means it could be anywhere...!

It's not a camera phone though

girliesmum · 01/02/2006 18:28

I am looking for a new phone as mine keeps just turning it off, I dont want to pay very much though because I dont use it all that much. Where did you get yours from RUMMum?

MissChief · 01/02/2006 18:40

no problem - we've sold 2 like this. Do watch out for scams tho' esp re phones - only buy from seller with 100% feedback & who's\sold say at least 10 items then should be ok.

rummum · 01/02/2006 19:01

The phones I got the kids were from EBAY. Is your phone quite old (or did you drop it) as it sounds like it just needs a new battery.. you can buy these on ebay too...

edgetop · 01/02/2006 19:19

my dh got one a few months ago for £10 its fine. i think you need to check the feed back.
watch out for the ones that are inported.

girliesmum · 01/02/2006 19:21

I dropped it! DH was unimpressed he should try wrestling a 2 yr old into a car whilst trying to appear calm to the estate agent on the phone who always calls at the wrong time!

A slight aside but I.m sure I would be less clumsey if had the time to do just one thing at a time.

katzg · 01/02/2006 19:23

spacecadet - would you like to sell you mobile to me? is it on O2?
