Thank you Soupdragon, ive just used this and I had 247 infected files. Im not really up to speed with technology but do you think this will have worked?

Yoogee is still there when I search for a website. Is Yoogee a virus?

I think you need to register for that program for it to actually remove the stuff - link was misleading

It's not a virus as such, it's a hijack. I've seen lots of references to it via google but the removal instructions seem complicated. EG this makes very little sense to me but it may be clea if you have Yoogee and try to remove it.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 09:47

It also seems that Yoogee can be the result of installing different things though so it may depend how you got it.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 09:50

this looks like it might have some helpful links. I've used both the Ad-aware (different from the earlier link I gave) and SpyBot programmes that it mentions.

Thanks Soupdragon - I will give it a go now. Are you a computer whizz?

check in your Add/Remove Programs and see if it is there

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 09:54

No, sadly not!

If things work, I'm fine if they go wrong I start to flounder!

It will be in add/remove as somethinglike Internet Optimiser. They don't always appear here and they don't always disappear if you remove them either!

Enid · 30/01/2006 09:56

I particularly like the ones that make you link to the website when you try and remove them

trix, unfortunately my computer got hijacked earlier this year. Everytime I opened up internet explorer, it would open up another page linked to adultfriendfinder.com (yes, you can imagine what sort of friends they were finding!).

I ended up having to run a Hijack This log and looking through the logs to find out where it had sat itself. No virus search engine found it. It took me 3 days of constant work to discover where it was - a complete pain. If you look up Yoogee, hopefully some computer buff in a help forum will give you instructions on how to get rid of it.

First of all, is it bringing up that search engine when you initially open up internet explorer? If it is and right click on internet explorer, left click on properties and you can remove the address manually from the home page (and when you restart, see if it comes back).

trix1 · 30/01/2006 11:57

Thanks for your advice - It brings up Yoogee when I search for something on the address line. Ive spent hours this morning trying to get rid of it to no avail.

If you google yoogee removal, you should come up with a number of Geek sites where you run something called "hijack this", post the resulting logfile on their forum and they tell you what to do to fix it.

trix1 · 30/01/2006 13:17

I think ive done it. Incase anyone is interested..

Start
Control Panel
Internet Options
Security
Restricted sites
then type in the website address in sites.

Now I need to know how to get a proper search engine when I am looking for a site??

To use Adware and spybot do you have to pay for them to remove any infected files? Does anyone know I was hoping they might be free, I suppose nothings for free is it?
