We are considering if we could build an extension on the side of the house.
Does anyone know how much an architect is likely to cost to draw up some plans?

We've just had this done for a basic extension, one up one down:

350 for feasibility survey i.e. just to look around and check it is a good idea and very basic drawings

500 for basic plans for planning permission

1000 for detailed plans for final planning permission and ready for builder

Plus about 400 in fees to the council

Add VAT to all that

So about 2,600 in total

we used an architecural technician ,a bit cheaper ,but we ended up paying about £1800 for the plans and building regs.He put everything through to planning,we didn't do any of that.He also was great for recommendations of builders. The fee includes all the planning and buildeing reg fees aswell.

Thank you all very much.
Amanda1 I don't suppose your friend is in the Northwest by any chance?
