MOM you asked me what I thought Earlier I wrote
'I'll admit I don't like them on younger boys, I don't like 'OOT' hair on their either.
However I like the sixth form boys to look a little crazy, I think by that time it shows character! '
OOT should have been OTT!
I'm a professional and I never let impressions cloud my judgement as a teacher. I try my utmost to be totaly fair and even handed to the kids I teach.
However it is true that of the wild children I have worked with, significant numbers of them have hair shaved in spirals and patterns, ears pieced and eyebrows shaved in patches (why this, it makes them look as if they have mange!? )
And I would imagine that to a degree the child is doing this to send a message about themselves, don't you think? They seem to want to look hard. Thinking of the classes I teach there appares to be a direct correlation between earings and behaviour.
And before anyone froths at the mouth, no, I don't pre judge. One of my nicest sixth formers is a goth (male) with more hardwear in his face than you can shake a stick at......he just can't belive that I also once had green hair!
