decorating inspiration needed

Hi,
I want to re decorate my lounge. Now, i know that i want neutral colours, probably browns/ creams but not sure how or which!

if i buy a new settee should i go for dark brown/tan/beige??

what colours have you had success with?
any ideas for me?

i'd go for a sofa that no what what colour to a certain degree will go with it - so for me it'd be the beige.

I'd also go for nurtal colours that way you canchange curtains / cushions / rugs as get a whole new room without need to decorate / buy a new sofa.

We have dark brown sofa, kind of golden sandy/biscuity carpet and cream/wood everything else. Colour from pictures, flowers & scatter cushions (rotated when I can be arsed).
