If you can get a table (and have the cash) Tanners- beautiful food. The Japaese restaurant opposite the entrance to the Barbican is the best I've had outside Japan. Pricy though (only Japanese in Plymouth so easy to find). In the same row there is a carribean place. Huge portions, takes ages to cook, but they let you order then go off to the pub (although I stayed for a chat). For fish Piermasters on the barbican-pricy again.

Tanners if you can. Oh the Treasury on Royal Parade is good, but they may just do lunches.

Depends on what you like. There a lovely Chinese called the Hoe just up behind the Theatre Royal. There a lovely Thai place (can't remember the name just opposite the end of Southside Street on the Barbican. I'd agree about the Japaese place - fab food!

Have fun! We're down in a couple of weeks - Can't wait to get home and see everyone!
