sis has been having a dilemma over what to name her dd...she's fixed on emma but is wondering what to go with it for a middle name. she likes sophia but my dd already has that as part of her name...any ideas?
the father is half-german so maybe a nice name reflecting german heritage? however his mum is muslim so also any nice muslim names could be considered......
help!!

Isn't Emma Jane a brand of maternity bra? Not that that should put anyone off. But maybe why alot have such a fondess for the name

nooka · 26/01/2006 21:16

My sister is Emma Catherine. I think that as Emma is a bit of a plain name it would be nice with something longer/more unusual (not that Catherine counts - although my mother said it was unusual when my sister was born)

hazlinh · 27/01/2006 03:40

oh wow..thanks everyone for that...love all the suggestions...some very pretty ones too!

will let my sis know and decide!!

sorry, that was a terrible joke but there was actually a girl who presented some kids show years ago called Emma Leven and the puppet things that used to lark about beside her once asked why whe was named after a motorway.

My SIL's sister's baby is Emma Edith. Like it - think it sounds distinguished

Bumblelion · 27/01/2006 16:53

MaryP0p1, my daughter is called Sasha May. I wanted Mae but ex-husband said no, it had to be May, spelt that way, as she was named after his nan.

sharklet · 27/01/2006 17:13

Who said Emma was a boring name - thats jusr mean!! Theres a lot of us Emma's here you know....

I'm Emma Jane and I'm named after my Gernam Great Grandmother who was Emma Jane.

Emma comes from a Germanic root name so it already reflects her German heritage. You cold always go for another german root name like Leyna as a middle name which means little angel.
