Am i being an underwear snob - only buying Petit Bateau underwear for my DD

My DD is 4 and i only buy her Petit Bateau underwear, i do this because whenever i have bought other brands such as underwear from John Lewis i always find them so thin, and i don't feel they cover her bottom especially in the summer when she wears dresses without legging underneath. Am i being an underwear snob, is there any other brand that make good quality knickers that aren't thin. I would be happy with Petit bateau it's just then only tend to make pale pink and white and DD wants to have some flowery knickers like her friends.

Yes noddy. It has a title and posters and everything. Grin Have you no opinion on quality undercrackers?

noddyholder · 19/02/2012 13:50

Not for my ds no!

'Apple catchers' Grin

I say buy what you want to buy.

Pagwaatch · 19/02/2012 14:15

It is a really rubbish thing to be snobby about though. Undercracks are nit visible so you have to shout things like 'Pretencionia, do pull up your Petit Bateau darling, your gusset is right down by your Hunters'

My MOL used to buy her underwear in Carrefour but never left the house unless she was dripping in gold, designer bags and fur coats. Not chic. Much better to wear really comfortable, well fitting underwear and no labels.

My daughter is running around the house in her pants and a jumper (classy i know) but its made me think of this thread! They are timmy time pants from mothercare (I let her choose pants when we were potty training) and yes they cover her bottom perfectly, no wedgie and no excema on her delicate skin (she's had it on her backs of knees before so is prone to it). Looks like I'm a lucky mother that I don't have to splash out on Special Pants!

This has been such a funny thread :)

littleducks · 20/02/2012 21:49

It's not the bottom coverage that is the problem, more the gusset coverage especially when they are little and sit crossed legged

stupid class war, so ridiculous. I had Petit Bateau underwear as a child along with supermarket ones, but i have to say that PB are definitely the best and are the most durable. Boden pants are also very good, still buying them from the kids range at 23. They cover my crotch well and are v comfortable.
It's up to you what you spend out on, so don't judge.
i got some lovely PB white t-shirts from one of their London shops a couple of weeks ago, i am a student, so don't have a lot of money, but i know that they will last forever and will hug my figure.

typicalvirgo · 19/09/2012 12:37

I'm going to throw this into the mix now...

DS2 wears his older brothers PB pants which are 6 years old and still look and feel better than newer ones bought from M&S et al.

I might have middle class pretentious - but i let my kids wear hand me down pants Grin

I'm looking to get pants for next in line for potty training came across this old thread it's ridiculously funny snobbery over pants. I looked at comments about petite botty being durable so evidently worth the cost. But does a 3 year old who will grow out for the pants in 6 months or a year at the most need durable pants? Why pay for the durability when they will outgrow it too early? I looked at the website clearly you have to be minted or some other choice word to get a pack of pants for 50 quid for a little kid? Thin thick gusset no gusset I'm heading for supermarket or high street
