Thinking about doing one but not sure what ground rules to consider. Also intereseted in any good bad experiences or just any tips at all to make it successful.

1 point per hour before midnight, 2 points after. People phone their points in to whoever has the book that month.

half points were allowed.

Only problem was that after a while everyone had positive points. People moving away tended to be negative because noone asked them to babysit when they were busy with the move but everyone was happy to babysit for them.

We needed to find an econmoist to tell us how to devalue the currency or something. As it turned out the babysitting circle fizzled out round about then as kids were becoming teenagers so it wasn't an issue.

sounds complicated or am i incredibly dense why cant you write it in hours owed?

i.e tracy babysit for 5 hours so then debbie has to do 5 hours or all do a set ammount of time each or something? (im just rambling now sry havent had much sleep)

we tried tht at first buit it didn't work so now we use tokens.

Because the hourly rate changes after midnight, points easier to operate. It was actually a very easy system.

Physical tokens might stop the phenomenon of people leaving the circle with negative points though.

We just had a book that rotated around and was a good excuse for a meet up every month when it changed hands for a natter and to check the book.
