Are you (or whoever's the homework is) supposed to be showing the difference between the meaning of "furthermore" on the one hand and "moreover" on the other?

'Cos even the OED says they're synonyms.

Which means the same sentence will do for both.

"I have worn myself out scrubbing the kitchen floor and, furthermore, I have done all the ironing."

oh Bink !!! Thanks !! It's not for me - it's for DD - aged 10 !!

She says - thanks

"I have done all my maths homework and, furthermore, come up with these sentences for English too."

"I have brought my PE kit home and, moreover, put it all in the laundry basket."

Principle is adding something on top of a previous statement which continues the same idea but deepens or extends it.

Thanks .... but I didn't know that you should put the and in to join up the sentences, as I thought that is what the "connectives" were for ....
Another boxed ticked ... Thanks Bink

Well it reads right to me with the "and" - it wouldn't read right just with a comma. It would be OK, I think, if it was written "I brought my PE kit home; moreover, ..." - so with a semi-colon.

But my grammar is (because I'm a sixties kid) all done by feel and not by knowledge. Be interesting to know what others say ...?
