I thought this was weird - What do you think?

I had to get a taxi the other day to the hospital when ds was ill. Called our local taxi firm and they sent a taxi.

When we got into the taxi, the driver is perfectly nice but he puts a tape into the player...

It is a religious tape, about piety and evil, about how everyone must be of this faith to get into the next world, people who arnt are evil, and as evil is controlled by the tongue they must be removed to recleanse....etc etc

I wasnt bothered by it, was half listening, half looking out the window...

When we got to where we were going, the driver stops the tape, takes it out of the player, we pay him and leave....

Seems like a nice enough bloke but does anyone else think this is a wierd thing for him to have done?

If it was already playing when you got in the car then maybe not, but for him to only put it on when you got in and then take it out when you got out - well weird IMO

Yeah. I'd call the company and complain. Sorry, but, you're PAYING him to take you somewhere, you shouldn't be subjected to anything you're not comfortable with.

Im not sure what religion he was although the tape talked of allah.

I must have been listening more than i thought i was though as i remember it! It had a lovely dreamy soft music playing behind the talking though. Would much have preferred the music on its own.

I strongly suspect that would make him a Muslim then, unless he was Bahi, and they don't 'do' much 'damnation' iirc.

definitely not Ba'hai! They wouldn't be talking specifically of Allah very 'peaceful' religion all told really. More into "love and peace" that fire and damnation IME (friend down the road active Ba'hai teacher LOL).

But apparntly all evil comes from the tongue and this controls the actions of the hands and limbs and of the mouth causing pain to others and commiting sins.

the tongue bit does look familiar Leah, although i get the impresion that this was an ametuer tape, although the voice was different to the taxi drivers.

The music behind it really was lovely though, and it honestly did seem to relax you - I thought i was imagening it!
