Where is that thread I saw re Paypal sending emails saying "New address added"??

I'm sure I saw a thread saying this the other day. It's happening to me.. I have had two emails from Paypal saying I have added an new address (and the new address i have supposedly added is my existing one!). When I went on my Paypal address info there is only my one existing address showing.

Bit worried in case some one is hacking into my Paypal account as it is directly linked to my bank account.

Can any one advise or link me to the thread where someone else was having the same problem?

Thanks

SJ x (on DS's lap top for first tiem.. ohhh this is weird! What freedom! I can surk in the bath if I want to! )

paypal or ebay will never email you and ask you for your details to be entered...

mumsfor1sttime> you can call paypal about this matter. if you want, i can look up the number for you. it may take ages, to hear anything thru email.

mumfor1sttime · 23/01/2006 12:01

I have checked my paypal account - nothing has been taken out, have phoned my bank this morning, and everything is normal.

Have taken my credit card details off paypal just incase!

Nemo1977 · 23/01/2006 12:09

also just had this email it has my home address on would have thought for soo many of us to get it then would have to be paypal.

Bubbaloo · 23/01/2006 12:17

Well I was thinking the same Nemo but now I'm not too sure.
What I don't understand is if they never asked for any information from us,and just mentioned that an address has been added, how can they "hack in" or do any fraudulant?
Sorry for being rather dense.

Nellie - I got the same email from the spoof Paypal address which I was just about to c & P! Curiouser and curiouser because both mails I sent them last night got returned 'unsent'!!

i've just had two of these as well. I just deleted them but then saw this thread. Assume that deleting them without any reply is safe?

BudaBabe · 23/01/2006 13:10

Paypal scares me. Haven't managed to "do" it anyway as they won;t accept a UK credit card with an overseas address - I think I am glad!

Spidermama · 23/01/2006 13:11

I had one this morning sleepyjess. I was a bit worried too. I think you are supposed to forward it onto paypal to be checked out.

There were no links to click on mine so I assumed it must be ok. Obviously never click on links in emails like this.

Katherine · 23/01/2006 13:59

I've bought three items in last 24 hours and got this email each time I paid. I just assumed it was a glitch and deleted them but feel a bit worried now especially if paypal say its not them. But then maybe that was an automated response. Sure it must be a glitch with so many people - and its each time you buy - not just random things coming through in email

Bubbaloo · 23/01/2006 14:12

I tried to reply to the email I was sent and it came back saying if I needed to contact them I should go to Paypal.com and follow instructions there-that's what made me think it was also just a glitch in their system and not a so called "hacker".

SleepyJess · 23/01/2006 21:55

Hmm yes I am wondering if it IS a glitch.. if everyone is getting them after they buy something! Why would they catergorically state that the emails that both Nellie and I forwarded them were 'not from them' then??!

we got these too...

weird.

sharklet · 24/01/2006 11:32

I did too right after I had paid for something

wierd....

Enid · 25/01/2006 19:52

I have just got one too - have just paid for something with paypal

Bubbaloo · 25/01/2006 20:26

I bought something yesterday but decided to pay by cheque instead. This evening I've bought something else, paid by Paypal and got another "address" email.I'm sure it must be a glitch as I looked again at my details and they have added my address, once again.
I've also emailed Paypal again tonight-might get a reply this time, hopefully!
