.....and if so what would you do with it?

OP posts:
Janh · 21/01/2006 15:36

Oh yes!

Would give most away though - keep enough to generate a decent living income and give the rest to "worthy causes".

Nbg · 21/01/2006 15:36

Of course

No, I'd be happy if I won enough to pay our loan off and maybe a bit of our mortgage.

But if I had to have it all I would be very silly with it, obviously.

Janh · 21/01/2006 15:36

Haven't got a ticket mind you

SauerKraut · 21/01/2006 15:37

Selfishly take what I'd need so that my family would never have to worry, then jolly well dole out the rest wherever it was most needed!!! And you?

Wallace · 21/01/2006 15:38

errr...yes?

I'd pay of debts, buy a house for ourselves and relatives...and lots of other stuff!

I can imagine it would be hard though...everybody would want a bit of it.

snafu · 21/01/2006 15:38

Madness. I honestly can't see how winning that amount of money could ever bring you anything but grief. Can't even begin to get my head around what I would do with £100m. It's not even 'money' anymore, it's just numbers. Off the radar, completely.

Although if the winner wants to chuck me £5m, I'd probably find a use for it

Wallace · 21/01/2006 15:39

I've got about as much chance as anyone else seeing as I haven't got a ticket, and am strong in my beleif that "The Lottery is a Tax on Stupid People"

Seashells · 21/01/2006 15:40

You could never spend it, even living off the interest alone you would have more money than you'd know what to do with it!

lucy5 · 21/01/2006 15:40

yes, but i havent got a ticket. I would lead a blooming good life as would all my family and friends.

SoupDragon · 21/01/2006 15:41

What a ridiculous question - who wouldn't want to win that much?? I have a long list of Good Causes I'd give money too if ever I won a lot and with that amount would allow me to give a sizeable amount to all of them

nell12 · 21/01/2006 15:42

what would i do with it? put it in the bank and sleep well at night knowing my family and friends are set up for life.... i wish!!

willow2 · 21/01/2006 15:43

Is the Pope a Catholic?

Would live a life of luxury, ensure that my friends and family were taken care of and be a generous benefactor to a host of good causes. Nuff said.

snafu · 21/01/2006 15:43

I really, really wouldn't want to win that much, SD! Jeez, the responsibility

Definitely love to win that much, but I don't play Euro Millions so no chance.

SoupDragon · 21/01/2006 15:44

Ah Snafu, but I could virtually refit the entire SCBU at the hospital I was born at and still have emonely left over

snafu · 21/01/2006 15:44

But you could do all those things with £5m.

SoupDragon · 21/01/2006 15:45

Obviousy, not buying a ticket makes this an even more remote possibility than it may normally be.

getbakainyourjimjams · 21/01/2006 15:46

No I wouldn't but if I did........... (I've been pondering this this morning).....

I would buy the land where an old special school was until this year (closed by Scope) and build a purpose built centre for autism offering permanent rooms for people at the severe end of the spectrum and offering lifelong education (kind of like a city based camphill community for people who need full time 1:1 support). it would also offer respite and have sensory rooms/hydro etc- would work in close conjunction with local special schools etc to offer trampolining etc for their students. Would also try to offer some sort of support for early intervention.

snafu · 21/01/2006 15:46

'Virtually refit' Soupy? You could refit it many times over. And obviously that's a fabulous thing...but it's still SILLY MONEY lol

iota · 21/01/2006 15:46

£100 million doesn't go far these days, MB - you could just about buy your dh a plane

Wallace · 21/01/2006 15:47

I'd pay for kids in Africa to come over and have the heart operations they need to survive. My mum is in Africa and she says you see appeals in the newspapers for money for operations, and this is close to my heart as I often wonder what would have happened to dd had we lived in the third world.

See I ca be good and charitable too...it wasn't the first thing that came to mind though

SoupDragon · 21/01/2006 15:49

Oh, I don't deny it's silly money but there's nowt wrong with silly

bosscat · 21/01/2006 15:50

oh yes, I really really really would like to win that much

Carmenere · 21/01/2006 15:56

I would relish the challenge that that much money would bring. You could make such a real difference to so many peoples lives. You could build a school in a third world country, you could finance research into disease, you could set up university scholarships. And you could ensure that all your loved ones were comfortable for the rest of their lives. Whilst I'm sure there would be negatives with that much cash, the potential for good would be incredible.
