Haven't read the rest of the thread but NO...would hate it! I'd be scared of my family being kidnapped, people's attitude changing towards us and the loss of privacy, to list a few things. It's a ridiculous amount of money.

cull · 21/01/2006 17:46

OH HECK YEAH!!!
When we win we are going to pay for all of our relatives education - provided they pass of course.
And my parents would get a new house.
And I could finally pay off my student loans.
But we were discussing it today and were considering the inplcations to ds. How would we teach him about respecting money? I think we wouldn't go overboard with it.

i would build a village for my friends and family to live in with a pub, restaurant and gym, spa, beauty salon, leisure centre with a nursery in the middle of it.

all my friends (if they wanted to) would work for me for stupidly high money and little hours

make sure my children were happy and debt free for life.

i would own a night club with the worlds best dj's and employ people to run it.

build somewhere for all the children to go and play and learn inc things like rock climbing horse riding etc

buy all the people in my village a car each

kit them out with new clothes and furniture for their houses.

randomly go to shops and hand people money as they walked in.

have i spent it all yet? i could easily spend 100 million!

edam · 22/01/2006 14:10

God, yes, you could really do something spectacular with that kind of money to change the world. And have enough left over to enjoy yourself! I'd do something to promote things like women's rights/ civil liberties/ animal welfare/ environmental issues.

munz · 22/01/2006 14:17

I'd be happy with 1 million tbh, not even that, just enough to pay my bills up and get a new car. but if I did win 100 million here's what i'd do:

1)give some to parents, brothers all aunts/uncles and GP - that would prob take about 25 million (ish)
2) pay all my debts up
3) pay the tax man his share
4) pay some into bonds/high intrest/savings accounts, to give me a nice income each month
5) take all the family on holiday.
6) build my own house
7) get new cars for me and DH
8) go shopping
9) quit my job and DH would sign off.
10) then after giving some to charity, work volentry for a charity or something so i'm not in doors 24/7.

dyzzidi · 22/01/2006 14:21

I would love to win that kind of money think of all the people you could help!!!

Of course I would travel the world and buy a huge house with a library and outdoor hottub.

snafu · 22/01/2006 14:43

Aren't lottery winnings tax-free? Or have I really entered cloudcuckooland now?

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 22/01/2006 14:46

munz... you forgot one!

number 11. Give JARM £1m so her DH can sign off!!!

catsmother · 22/01/2006 14:54

Absolutely.

Far better £100 million in my hands for sensible and worthwhile redistribution, than in the hands of someone like Suffolk's "lotto lout" whateverhisnameis.

Fingers crossed.

munz · 22/01/2006 14:55

I assumed u'd have to pay it snafu u have to pay it on jsut about everything else! - or is it only on the income u recieve? best to be safe thou and allocate the money - wouldn't wanna go from 100 millon to broke cos I forgot to pay the tax man! lol.

actually BIL's would go into a trust fund till he's 21 with the income only being allowed into his bank account (he's only 18, and DH think's he'd blow it on junk and have nothing left)

Jarm - back at u if u win! lol.

doubt we'll win thou - gotta play it first!

snafu · 22/01/2006 14:59

I think it would be just on the income, munz. But hey, I don't want it anyway (honest!)

noddyholder · 22/01/2006 15:06

in a word YES

flutterbee · 22/01/2006 15:07

I was talking to my Mum about this yesterday and we totally depresed ourselves.

Give loads to family as well as paying off there morgages and buying them a car (each not between them ) I have 7 brothers and sisters DH has 4 brothers and we have 3 sets of parents between us so that takes a huge chunk up.

Buy a beautiful country estate and a pad in the city. Put a load into trust for the kids, holidays, cars and all the usual stuff. Donate to African charities and childrens charities. Invest in a high interest account and forget about it, so if anything ever happens then that money is always there.

Then set about having loads more children as the only thing stopping dh and I breeding constantly is money.

munz · 22/01/2006 15:15

lol snafu - yeah right! lol. u know u do, I might even open a choccy shop!!! ohhh and be cheif tester!
